Well done...I would take advantage of that and do the exact same thing..lol..I'm not sure what you did that made you feel you acted like a buffoon, but it's important to get the lead out sometimes. Free Jai Alais and I'm definitely getting to buffoon status or worse, and that's what weddings are for. Somebody's got to be "that guy"...(or girl)...lol...

You just proved the other posters point. This elitist attitude is exactly what gives folks that enjoy good beer a bad rap.

On the BYOB status, I suppose it all depends upon the people, and if it's a wedding with a bunch of close friends or family and the OP knows them well I say why not. I mean, it would be different if you brought a dirty 30 of Busch because you didn't want to pay for drinking. However, if it's something special, like those beers are to people, I say why not. It's a good time to enjoy them...a happy occasion...go for it...it's a celebration beer...

When my sis in law got married last fall I packed a BN, BCBCS, BCBBW and a KBS to share with my brother in law to be and some other groomsman before the wedding. I knew in advance that they were going to have BMC at the reception so I also brought along a cooler with All Day cans and some Odd Side Citra. Much to my surprise they did have a keg from Perrin there but that went quick. After that I snuck some cans and bottles into the reception in my backpack. No one cared and I had plenty to share so it was a great time!

Cheers to the couple and have a great one OP!!!

PS I'm a huge sucker for great beer and big "life moments"!!

If the wedding hall allows it , bring it and enjoy.

I wouldn't even just go out and say that. It was in reply that I would be a douche for drinking what I like.

As long as you don't broadcast it/pour it during the ceremony you're fine...I did this last Fall and I'll tell you the ones I shared with were very happy I forward thought. I mean, I love pounding Coronoa and Miller Lite like the next guy (not really) but ultimately decided against it. The beers I brought were Pseudo Sue and Space Station Middle Finger, both well received.

^^ this. If you don't announce it and quietly sneak a few in during the reception and pour it into the red solo cups or whatever the house is providing you should be good.

I'll simply answer the OP's question without questioning whether or not the OP is stepping on social mores surrounding the action of bringing a sipper or drinking native bevs (sounds like a great idea for another thread). I'll just explain my choice of Nugget Nectar. Personally, I don't focus on really, really great beers when around others, I only enjoy the best sippers at home when I can actually sit back and enjoy one without having to engage others. For that reason, if I were to bring something better than what you believe they'll have yet not waste a "me time" sipper in a social setting that has nothing to do with beer, Nugget Nectar would be my best choice out of the ones you listed (assumes Lunch or Speedway isn't crazy available- as I've never seen either)

Ya I definitely wouldn't be walking g around with it with the bottle/can in my hand. I think that would be dumb. And honestly I will have a miller lite every now and then. But for special occasions I like to have a special beer.

Geez man, it's a wedding, I've never even thought about bringing beer to a wedding. Drink what they have, the world won't end if you get a little Bud Light in you.

Pretty much what I was trying to debate with myself. Thanks for the opinion.

I would and have but not bud light. Honestly my most hated beer. Miller I can do. I'd hope for Stella. And I understand your thinking.

I guess I just never thought about bringing beer to someone else's wedding. Especially a close friend. I've always been a bit more focused on the actual wedding and the fact that a good friend is getting married so the panic of not having any craft beer to taste never really popped into my mind.

I bring a cooler backpack everywhere, not to say its correct or incorrect douche or not douche...everyone will have their own opinion. Truth is, I don't care what said opinion is, because it's not disrupting/taking focus off anything/anyone. Typically, they don't view it at all, because no one sees me pour or anything like that, its not broadcasted. I'll usually grab glasses of the craft heads I know will appreciate it and fill them and hand them back. I know what I want/like and I come prepared, it has nothing to do with focus or not focus, it's just forward thinking and not having to deal with poor selection. (For what its worth).

If people know you as the beer guy, they might even expect you to bring something. It seems like a lot of my friends just expect me to have something to share on nearly every occasion.

Yeah, I guess I just never cared about beer that much to feel the need to bring my own and to actually refuse to drink what's available.
Different strokes I guess, but I'm glad beer isn't that big of a part of my life.
