Just wanted to say that a buddy of mine has already secured a trade for one of his Huna's for a VR and I have done the same. Personally I think it was a pretty fair trade.

No one really knows how many extra bottles are getting released on Sunday (except CCB of course) but I can promise you it is less than 6000 otherwise they would have just opened it up for every member to buy them online.

Perhaps the remainder of the 6,000 will hit *gasp* distro.

    this

I love the logic on display here. Let's see...

There are 1,500 El Cat members.
If you can buy 4 bottles pp if you are an El Cat member and show up in person.
Therefore, there are 6,000 extra bottles.

    Wheee, math!

A much better assumption is that since El Cat members got first crack at Huna Day tickets, and only maybe 50% of them purchased them, that roughly HALF of all El Cat members do not live anywhere near Tampa, FL.

Lotta software engineers up in here.

I would think distributing to a large population might make it harder to trade for, but would lower demand of people who didn't get any. The beer hoarder is really what drives value on this one imo.

I had zero connections and walked away with 4 at MSRP. Under $100 for VR versus $200 for Huna. I'd rank the difficulty of getting either as not difficult. The Huna was a bigger pain in the butt, but not difficult. All in all, I'd say it is fairly balanced in difficulty to get coming from the perspective of someone who got equal numbers of both.

Pretty much this. Huna and VR should be right at 1:1. At first, people will think VR trades higher just because people will hold their last bottles out and Huna folks will be more generous with their trades since they JUST got back with 4. Once the more generous trades have gone away and people get down to only a few Huna bottles, we'll probably see the truer 1:1.

Huna is being sold for 20$ , 18$ actually with Cat discount so it's value as far as $ for 4 bottles is 72 or 80 $ ..Not 200 $

This is why I trade $4$... I don't need to worry about which is more .rar.....That way I can trade on taste. Hunahpu is my absolute favorite non-BA beer, but given the choice, I'd rather drink VR. Given my $25-30 average cost of VR, I'd want a small plus (a couple Jai ali cans) on the Hunahpu side if I did the trade... Which I wouldn't because, like I said, VR is better. Anyway, I got a near lifetime supply last year that I'm still working through.

I'm like a movie star or something, best friend.

Except that requires a membership, which costs money. I was talking strictly non-Cat plebs (like myself) though, so the ticket cost seems closer to appropriate with the caveat that it also came with admission. Either way though, you're not wrong, so I honestly wouldn't disagree much in a $4$ trade. I also wouldn't try to recoup my $3 difference if I were trading the VR.

People end up worrying a lot about money and try to go $4$ but then also try to add value to their own bottles by saying "But *I* paid this much!" I had someone try to value a VR at $35 because they paid it at their shop... Sorry bro, the MSRP is $22.99 and you got ripped on a huge upcharge. You don't get to pass along your costs like that.

All in all, I have no interest in trading either my VR or my Huna. I have both. I went and got both. The Huna was a bigger pain to get but also a lot more fun to get. These bottles are both delicious. I consider them equal and feel like that is a fair evaluation. Most of the people disagreeing are upping the value on what they have or devaluing what they don't. Oh well.

Anyone want to drink beer and shoot lasers out of our eyes?!? @markgugs

I grew up in FL I am in NC because I am stationed here (Marines) my bro is still in FL so we spilt the cost of the El Cat membership and he picks up the bottles I have traded for VR and have had more than my share of Huna so I also have no dog in this fight both are great beers the only reason I mentioned the price is because of exactly what you said people "try to add value to their own bottles by saying "But *I* paid this much !" . Alot of people that have defended Huna 15' for a VR 1:1 main reason has been "I paid 200$ for a ticket" well CCB says that bottle is worth 20 $, just like I would not say it's worth more because I paid for a El cat membership. Either way this worked out great for me as my Bro and I did not want to spilt 200$ for him to get bottles at Huna day .

They're both great beers, but it's pretty obvious from a quick search in ISO:FT that Vanilla Rye is trading for more than Huna right now, regardless of bottle counts.

I ended up just doing this trade. I think VR still has the one up but it's not worth that much more I guess. Glad I did the trade and get to try 2015 Huna.
