Is this a fair trade for a Prop?

I've offered up my HF Port Barrel Damon a couple times on here for a Prop and received no action on it at all. I've received multiple offers both times I posted with people offering me a VR but I already have one so I had to pass in hopes of landing a Prop. I know Prop is harder to come by than VR but is the difference that large that people are going out of their way to offer me VR but not one person has shown interest in trading me a Prop?

Obviously Port Barrel Damon isn't going to catch the eye of everyone here so it's not like I'm offering up something that everyone with a Prop would want but I thought for sure I would get at least some interest. I've even offered to add a bit if it helps get the trade done.

Is my offer that far off? What kind of + might it take to get it done, or should I just stop trying because the values just aren't close?

There's a huge difference in the level of desirability between these bottles. Prop is high in demand whereas port damon isn't. You are off by a lot of measures but the ones that matters (demand and taste) you are off quite a bit. I'd either add a solid plus or start from scratch and offer up something in demand.

Is Prop that much more desirable than Vanilla Rye?

Less bottles of prop made than vanilla rye, and only sold in Chicago rather than parts of the rest of the country.

VR with a small plus will get the Proprietors done from my experience. I'd have taken you up on your post, but as I mentioned I let go of my last Props in another trade, hence why offered up the VR.

Ahh, gotcha. Thanks. I thought if I maybe added something decent that it might be able to get done. i didn't think there was that large of a gap between VR and Prop.

I appreciate that. I still may take you up on that(if it's still available) if I'm not able to land a prop. Starting to think it might be easier to add a + to the VR I have now and trade you for your VR.

It would take more than a small plus for VR to equal a prop, IMHO.

Maybe I got lucky then? I've done it twice VR + a regional limited beer for prop. Nothing super elusive on the +. Perhaps "small" wasn't the right word but it didn't take me 2xVR to get either trade done.

Yeah I guess my issue was the word small. It definitely would take some local limited shelf beer as a plus

Would a VR and a 4 pack of Sunday Morning Stout be close?

that's not what every single person I know in Chicago said. I was told it was actually easier to get Prop than it was VR. I mean, all 12k or whatever bottles of Prop were in Chicago metro, whereas I can guarantee there were nowhere near 12k bottles of BR held back for Chicago. knowhaumsayin

I'm just outside of Chicago but I found prop and vanilla to be exactly the same in terms of ease to obtain. I found most places got the same amount of each and you could either buy one of each or had to choose one. I just happened to enjoy prop MUCH more than vanilla so it would take a lot more to get me to trade it away. Just personal opinion there of course. Good luck OP!

His offer was VR + ADWTD+ and I had other choices that would have just straight up ripped the guy off but took a couple small bottles instead. He was very generous and a very nice guy (traded IP). I'm getting him back if we trade again! Wasn't going to trade one away but always wanted to try adwtd and the vanilla rye with it made it a no brainer.

That trade was more than fair. Look at it this way, you need 2x vaniila for a prop+. You need ADWTD+ for a vanilla (If you can even find someone willing). Plus, you can still buy ATWTD. It was an IP Trade, which in my book always is best. You get to meet a new BA to possibly have future trades with and save on the risk of shipping.
