I'd almost rather just trade with someone out in California. Wish stores wouldn't use Twitter or Facebook. Or use a lottery system. My shop does a lottery and it works great. Gives everyone an equal chance.

Getting a few from Paso Robles today.

I drove to Paso today and I was the second one in line at 9:30am after sitting in the car for almost three hours. For the drive, I rewarded myself with a HUGELY overpriced vertical set of 2012-2015 Parabola. Let's hope the prior posts about this beer not aging well aren't true!

For what it's worth, they had a ton available at the brewery when I left at noon. 2014 on tap too.

I drank a 2010 a couple weeks ago and it was sublime.

Just got 4 from the Buellton brew pub. Can't wait to drink them!

Agreed. While I have called many times in the past, I realize there is no point unless you are there because majority of stores will not hold anything (though Sav Way does at times).

Mind if I ask how much the vertical was? I'm headed down to Paso in a week to clean out the brewery store. Is there a bottle limit? When I went down for the maltose falcon release they had an Anniversary vertical box for $130 that included 15-18. Didn't get it but still did some damage. Never gotten out of there under $300. Cannot wait for next week

Sorry to hear that you waited that long (unless you are into that sort of thing) but hopefully I can reassure you that the '12 is drinking very nice right now but very different than fresh, lots of nutty, milk chocolate flavors.

Sorry I went to Buellton and was referring to the 12-15 taster vertical not the bottle vertical set I heard was about $300

Bottle vertical was $300 at the brewery store. Bottle limit on Parabola of 4 per person and Lil' Opal 2 per person. You can get your limit at the brewery store then walk over and do the same at the taproom. They had a special on a couple Anniversaries, 17 and 16, for $35 and $45, regular price $50 and $70.

$300, that's absurd. I hope the anniversary bottles are still on sale. Ill buy at that price for sure. Thanks for the info.

I'm in Mammoth for the weekend and picked up 2 from Mammoth Liqour at $15 including tax. They had 3 on the shelf and also BA Narwhal for $17.98 including tax and crv.

Did anyone else find that the Parabola '13 had an odd taste to it? Oxidation perhaps?

Had no real problem getting this the last few years, yesterday my local shop owner (I'm in SE VA) told me he is only getting 6 bottles this year. Thought that was kind of odd. Looks like its probably going to be a FT/ISO this year.

It is all done and dusted now (so not super helpful) but I got lucky with a binnys that doesn't use twitter for their whales.

Even then though, the beer manager had told me what day & time the delivery was coming so I took an early lunch and I arrived as the truck was unloading. They only got 3 6-bottle cases (18 total). 2 or 3 bottles got saved for staff right away (which I think is totally fair, first dibs on a bottle is the only perk they get), and in the 10 minutes I was there chatting to the beer guy he sold the first case - truck was still unloading and half their allotment was gone.

One woman was there with infant in arms waiting because it was her husbands favorite and she wanted to surprise him for his birthday. It seemed like all regular folks just trying to get their hands on a bottle of a favorite beer. The beer guy was saying he could mark it up to $40 a bottle and still sell out within a few hours, so I think it is just that demand has exponentially increased in the last few years.

I am pretty much resigned to the fact that if I want a particular limited release I am going to have to be at the store within an hour of it arriving to get any, and probably be there before it arrives if the store uses twitter...

I did find something off about 13, enough to not get it on the next round

Our whole table agreed that the 2013 taster had fallen off. Someone said they had a bottle of 2013 though recently and that one was drinking fine.

Someone answered, but yep $300! Bummer to hear the 13 may be shot.

Glad to hear it, thanks :-)

How the heck did I miss the anniversary sale? Dang!!!
