Hey all I'm headed to Cleveland in the beginning of August and I'm looking to stay at an airbnb rental somewhat near Great Lakes brewing/market area. The place looks great but it located in tremont area on west 10th near professor ave. it looks to be about 1-1.5 miles Away from Great Lakes. Would this be a good safe area to walk at night and during the day? Don't want to worry about driving.

Is tremont close to any public transportation to check out other areas of the city? Any beer places or food recs that would be near my rental. Hoping to hit glbc, nano, market brewing, west side market and further out fatheads. Also headed to blossom for a concert one night (no lodging available nearby at this time)

You could take a bus or cab, but that's it. That neighborhood is walkable and as safe as you would expect any urban area to be, probably better than most.

There is so much to eat and drink in that area - check the social media sites as there is too much to list here. I would say don't miss Tremont Tap House.

Three breweries in the area you may not know about - Portside, Brick and Barrel, and Butcher & The Brewer. Plus there's Platform Brewery a little ways off on the edge of Ohio City.

So in other words that's a great area to book at $100 a night for a stellar looking place with off st parking included? Thanks for the other tips also!

I would say so. A lot of people I know also have many great things to say about the Cleveland Hostel. I'm too old to stay in a place like that but the location is great. Have fun, man.

OP: are you saying you want to walk fromTremont to Ohio City (GLBC)? I wasn't clear on that. I agree with Mike, though. Bus or cab would be much better between the neighborhoods. You'll have no problem finding either option in Tremont. Definitely don't want to miss Tremont Tap House.

In addition to the above, check out Bier Market in Ohio City and Bourbon Barrel Room in Tremont. Also, Lilly's in Tremont has awesome chocolates and a small but diverse bottle selection. And if you're into cocktails, the Velvet Tango Room is really cool.

    Enjoy!

Yeah I was hoping to walk (ie do a crawl) from our tremont spot to ohio city. Looks like it is only 1.1 miles door to door but I want to verify that is a safe walk day or night. Tremont tap house is pretty damn close to where we are staying.

Thanks for the tremont tips and keep any more coming! Only spent about an hour in Cleveland years back and only hit glbc and fat heads on the way out

I would NOT walk from Tremont to West 25th after dark unless you're in a big group of people.

Good to know. We will hit up that stretch during the day or cab it. Sounds
Like there is a bunch nearby in tremont to keep us entertained at night either way

This is a decent option to get from West 25th street to Platform and back if you don't feel like paying for an Uber:

I would agree with the suggestion to not making that walk at night...it's not terribly bad in that area but why chance it?

A quick cab ride to Platform would be worth it. Cool spot. Fatheads if you can make it out that far is a must. Great lakes is always a nice stop (good food as well). I would say if you have to travel more than a few blocks than just get a cab (or golf cart?). Also on W. 25th, Nano & Market Garden are both kind of a waste of time if you're just in it for the beer. My 2 cents.

I'll be at the show as well. I play bass guitar. Perhaps you know me?

I don't know, I have walked Tremont at night a lot with no problem but a cab is always safer. In any case, were not talking about a really scary area, at least not IMO.

More crime there than what you hear about. I'm sure many folks walk around there at night with no issues, but I'd hardly recommend it to anyone.

I guess it's all relative, I've been in places much worse than Tremont and I would(and have) walked that neighborhood without a thought. I mean, you can get mugged or whatever anywhere, just have to be smart and be aware of what's going on around you. OP is a big boy and he can assess the situ for himself when he gets there.

I've been in plenty worse areas, too. I am speaking from personal experience in Tremont and Ohio City as well as the experience of multiple friends. Cab or Uber would be a wiser choice, IMO. I am referring to after dark as well, not daytime.
