Whenever I see mentions of the Old Mine I think of the Old Mill and wonder why in the world you'd want to go there
Based upon my experience, the Old Mill should be paying people to take 64oz of beer off their hands... The Old Mine on the other hand is a kick ass place.
This times a billion. I used to live with a buddy at Santa Fe and Mineral and we would go there, stupidly, every couple of months and forget how shitty that place is. Beer and food and everything.
On topic for the Old Mine - you don't see Stickee Monkey bottles everyday. IMO, that's the all-star of all-stars this week.
I would love to try it again against some other beers in a lineup, but I had Stickee for the first time just about a year ago and I think it's the best beer I've ever had. What does Old Mine charge for a bottle?!
I think I have one bottle of Stickee left. I opened one maybe 4-5 months ago and it was still terrific. I think it's the best thing FW has ever released and that actually means a lot.
touche... I guess I did the same thing a few times, but a few years ago there was LITERALLY nothing around, so $6 growlers didn't seem that bad. Haven't been back in quite a few years, but somehow they are still afloat...
Had a great time Saturday during The Old Mine's anniversary party, BCBS on tap, among some pretty tasty cider variations. The one downfall was how Perennial Sump held up, after purchasing a bottle there was a significant amount of "slime" on it. Obviously out of their control and an apparent risk when cellaring beer, but the owner gladly made it right and came by later with a few glasses of Abraxus which was drinking beautifully. Overall in my opinion The Old Mine is doing it right for us in Northern CO, a great space.
