An even better question is why would they take Tumescence (which was brewed at The Bruery), change the name to pass it off as something new, and then charge $14 for 12oz? Weird... It was good though!

Did you ever have the one at the bruery? If so, did it taste the same. I only ask because you said this was good and I've yet to find someone who enjoyed Tumescence.

Seems like it would be a completely different beer then. Tumescense kind of bordered on drain pour for me.

Did anyone give their sour a try yet? I'm curious how that turned out.

I personally didnt but I have a coworker who I trust his opinion. He said the flavor was a standard saison with a little bit of sour. Considering the amount of time it spent in barrels he was expecting more.

It's too bad Darkstar was/is so late in the afternoon. I got there at open on Sunday for it and was told it wasn't on tap until 4:00pm had to leave since I couldn't wait four hours. Same with the brewer's reserve this coming Saturday. If they tapped it at noon it would be great, but can't make 4pm... that just sucks.

Given the nature of the beer (Tumescence) and the ingredients, I would think it tasting different a year later would not be at all surprising.

Either way, I'll try to get an answer tonight.

I opened my last bottle of Tumescence a month ago or so, it certainly did taste different...unfortunately it tasted worse than it did before. The other bottles I finished, didn't really enjoy them much, but I finished them, this last one got poured down the drain.

The problem with most craft beer drinkers right now, in the budding age of American sour beer and greater accessibility to sour beer, is they think every single one should be mouth puckering Beatification type sour, and if not it's a disappointment or not well crafted. That's unfortunate.

I think this thread is getting sidetracked lol....how did everyone like the sour Prince? I felt it was a pretty great take on a European type sour; fantastic nose, the taste was above par, picked up some great barrel characteristics. Can't wait to see what another year in the Barrels does to it!

Couldn't agree with this more, I'm not sure it was made to resemble that sweet tart flavor that american sours create. Because it doesn't taste like a mouth puckering sour it's automactially sub par, which is far from the truth.

Well thats a personal preference. I personally can't stand the sours from Hoparrazi but that doesn't mean they are bad.

@CraftyJoseph and @bottlelogicsteve SO while it has been fun to try the different beers for this week and getting the stamps is kind of fun(especially the prizes), i am wondering when the growler fills will be starting...or am i just too picky and what i am expecting as "Special" is there and i am just not seeing it?

Just curious since it seems i am not the only one asking...

    Thanks!

Great week so far none the less!

Come on, $7 for 6oz pours isn't special enough? Ugh. I'm glad I just bought my glass. the price tag to those pours are a bit on the heavy side and so far it hasn't been all great in taste. Passionate dragon was great back during Shelton and when first released... I was not liking how it has evolved in those barrels. huge miss.
