Wow - yep, the $15.99 seems like standard retail. I paid $16 and thought it was pretty reasonable - at $11.74 I would have probably taken a couple of cases for sure - might even have taken the lot...

I used to think that we me being selfish, but given how hard it is to find limited beers I want to try, I would have probably just stocked up thinking 'well, last time I ever get this chance'

I moved to Norcal from Detroit last year and was pretty shocked at how easy it seemed to obtain limited stuff here as opposed to there . Found this on the floor at a shop out here two weeks ago. Went back Friday night and there was still BW left.

Yeah, so if I ever found something like that here in Chicago I would have bought the lot... and asked if there was any more out the back...

Tha fuck...I've never seen the regular in a quantity anywhere near that, and to get even 1 BCBCS you basically basically had to give someone a handy.

Also, ISO: GI "Country" Coffee Stout and "Bareleywine"

Yeah, lesson learned. Right after I walked away I thought, damn, I should have bought more.

Um...those two stacks would have set you back about $1,350.00. If you still are saying you would have bought it all you definitely aren't married. Maybe a mixed case...or two.

Married, but no kids and the cars and house are all paid off so no debts and my hobby is rock climbing which is basically free. Yeah, would have taken the lot, especially this late in the year when everyone else has already had 4 months to have a go and get what they wanted. I can't think of any of my beer buddies who wouldn't kick me for not getting it all and just dividing it up among them - they would do the same - we often grab cases of good stuff when we can and just text each other so we all know someone has scored and we don't have to hunt separately - kind of a beer hunting co-op.

Same as @eLeMeNOhPee1 with the 4 cases of Parabola at $12 a bottle - $300 wouldn't make me blink for something like that because I know I could trade any extras and if nothing else, I have half a dozen buddies who would happily take a few bottles each off my hands. I think part of the problem is these things are getting so hard to find (at least in Chicago) I feel like I have to grab what I can when I see it knowing it will be all gone and on the trade forums by the end of day.

    So unfair.....

Had to pay and arm and leg for barleywine, and it was singles only. Sold out on black friday everywhere. Marlyand got shafted this year.

    Fair enough.

Back to Parabola which is one of my favorite beers. Looked in Chicago to no avail yesterday, Woodmans said "next week", fwiw. Was able to trade for one so def pumped about that.

Likewise. I did a trade with a guy out in RI because it was sitting on shelves still in January, and was all sold out in Chicago within a day - only way I was able to get more than singles of it... Seemed hilarious at the time that I was paying FedEx to ship beer back to Chicago...

A lot of the city got it last week, but I believe the northern burbs is hitting this week. Was reliably informed that the Lake County distributor is almost always a week later than Cook. Tues - Wed - Thurs seems to be the delivery days too, so worth keeping an eye out this week.

Not sure if you guys get it in Chicago, but What's going to happen to is that parabola will hit MD (trying to stay on topic for this thread) and it will sell out within the day or the next day it hits the shelves, probably like what happens with proprietors BCBS for you guys. Gotta be smart and have a person at the store reserve it. It just tickles me pink when people talk about Parabola (my all time fav BA stout) just "sitting on the shelves" like a shelf turd haha.

In the process of this happening for Parabola here in Chicago. Last week, I arrived at the store as the truck was unloading, and the Binnys (big liquor chain, was at a large store) only got 18 bottles, and sold about a third of it within 10 minutes. Heard later that it didn't last an hour (they didn't even tweet it). Some stores that tweeted the arrival sold out in less than 15 minutes... I wish it lasted a day!!

I think the 'shelf turd' thing is based on anecdotes from mom and pop stores getting things that no-one expects to find, or like the BCBS above, a few cases just turning up randomly months later. In Chicago at least, that is pretty uncommon from my experience, but it does happen.

Well, that's good since I'm betting we get completely screwed out of distro in SE VA.
