I did! I prefer Southern Charred for some reason; but as far as BBA Stouts go, I thought it was pretty good. I still like FW, Midnight Sun, Clown Shoes, and Bruery better for that kind of ordeal.

    I haven't had the Santa's in a while, so can't comment.

Hey, fair enough -- FW, et al. makes for some tough competition. But something about Fyodor's just worked for me, besides the price, of course:slight_smile:

    If it were a 22oz I'd be a happy camper.

I remember I got Anchorage's 750ml Darkest Hour two years ago for 17.99. And that, my friend, blew my mind.

I guess I didn't understand what that meant...So the answer is "no, it was always bottled as Fyodor's" or did it mean it WAS bottled as BA IRS but they were infected and now they changed the name to Fyodor's

Yes, the first bottle offering of the BA IRS was just called BA IRS, but it was infected. The second offering of the BA IRS was called Fyodor's Classic. Hope that helps.

Planning on cracking mine this weekend. I'll report back on its tastiness.

In a birthday tasting that included KBS, Black Tuesday, and Stickee Monkee, Fyodor's Classic definitely held its own. Now this just makes me want Mikhail's Odd even more.

What do you think about the tradeoffs of letting a bottle continuing to age vs drinking now? I prefer to let BA stuff mellow out a bit, but with almost a year on it, I'd expect this one to be fine by now.

Popped a Mikhail's the other week and it's drinking fantastic. Coffee is starting to fade so I'm going to drink my other bottle soon.

Cracked my first of three Fyodor's Classic over the weekend. I thought it was drinking great. Solid beer by Stone and I hope they have plans to continue BBAing this IRS.

It honestly depends on personal taste. Some people might like the taste of a beer after it's been aged, and some may prefer it fresh. I never had Fyodor's when it first came out, I just knew that I was saving this bottle for my birthday. Generally speaking, high alcohol barrel-aged beers tend to taste more strongly of alcohol when they're fresh. A year or more in ideal aging conditions can allow some of that alcohol burn to subside and give way to more subtle flavors and character from the barrels it was aged in. On the other hand, adjunct flavor-adders such as coconut and coffee tend to lose some of their oomph with too much time in the bottle.

Long story short, drink your beer whenever the hell you want.

How was it? I've got two, and pulled one up from the cellar this morning and planning to drink it tonight amid a ridiculously snowy week here in Denver.

Very pleased today. I was able to grab 3 of the new 2015 edition. I might go get more. Not sure.

I need to get a couple of bottles. Hope it's as good as last year's vintage.

Jesus, has it been that long already... I still haven't had my bottle from last year. I think I need to start drinking more and buying less...

This is my problem as well. I don't have a drinking problem, I have a buying problem.

Agreed. They didn't have it, unless it wasn't on the shelves yet. They got Fyodors today, but they said they don't think they received the 2015 IRS which I assumed would come in the same day.
