How much Hop JuJu did it take to land a vanilla and a prop?

Right...? That was going to be my question.

Isnt Hop JuJu a seasonal as well? Or is that a brewery only

Seasonal. I was able to pretty easily pick up two 4-packs for friends at the grocery store.

Well I think it is nice that you're transparent, I cannot help but think this paragraph is explaining how to "win" a trade. I am sure you're a good guy, but this paragraph rubs me the wrong way. I could be the only one.

I don't think he did anything wrong, but I do think his trading partner is.. well, crazy. I'm not an IPA guy so I can't personally attest, but Hop JuJu does seem very popular.

That being said, it doesn't have even remotely the sort of trade value that is seen from Vanilla Rye and especially not from Prop.

I did a pre-release trade of Black Tuesday for Vanilla Rye, 1:1. Putting Black Tuesday on the ISO:FT forum now would never pull a VR 1:1, but it's still a barrel aged, limited release stout that is fairly highly sought after. I may not be able to pull that trade off today, but my partner still got something that was much closer in "street value" than Hop JuJu... Unless he sent them a huge quantity, which I doubt is the case.

Wow unless he got several cases he got robbed.

I had typed out a fairly long response to this when I first read it...but then decided to let it be and deleted it. Now that you bring it up again, I just wanted to say that I share your sentiment. I read his reply as a "winning" testimony which is sadly indicative of what most of the trading scene is about these days.

I always sort of go back and forth about this... Because I think everyone has a right to trade for whatever they want, and maybe his partner just LOVES Hop JuJu... But I don't know. It's such a lopsided deal and it's irritating when something like that goes through while perfectly legitimate (and fair) offers for those beers go entirely ignored.

That's probably just jealousy talking a little, though. I've offered a whole hell of a lot more than Hop JuJu for Prop and not gotten close.

holy shit. Is this a turning point in our relationship ryan? Could this be our kiss and make up. I agree with you completely and also agree with what @stakem added.

Which is why I've been mainly sticking to old trade partners / just doing pick it up for mes because the trading world is filled with this any more

I totally agree that as long as both parties are happy, then it is a good trade. However, the remarks about it give off a vibe of, "Check out what I got with my Hop Juju before people realized it was easy to get." Similar to the remarks about his Voodoo set. Just a bad vibe from his commentary on it, I guess.

It is getting indescribably cold here in hell...

Gonna crack my Bourmuda this weekend, I think. I hope I hate it

    Yeah, I hear you.

I caught hell for trading 2 of my 4 Voodoo bottles, but it had nothing to do with trying to "get" anyone, they were just styles that I don't care for. I passed both along to people who truly wanted them and did so for fair 1:1 returns. Everyone involved was happy and got beer that they really wanted to try. Wins and cheers all around.

Slap an Ohio sticker on the side you'll bump it up a notch hahahaha....Honestly though can't wait to hear what you think. I really enjoyed this beer a lot, it's just so unique and has so much going on, but that's because I am a homer.

You made it clear from the beginning there were two styles you didn't like, I don't know how anyone can blame you for trading them away.

Because it was blasphemous to trade a beer that I'd never tried... Despite the fact that I've literally hated every IPA that I've tried, barrel aged or not.

I don't see it as "winning a trade".. I gave up more ounces of lower bottle count beer.. So, not sure that can be considered a "win". I'm just seein all types of trade posts now fall on deaf ears. People were telling me I should be able to land a DB huna with just ONE of the bottle released in this collection, and I always thought that was kind of silly. People just don't get excited about Brown ales and wheatwines no matter what barrel they're aged in.

I guess my comments about both the juju and this set, was the idea of people waiting to try and trade them as opposed to (pre) trading them when not that many are up yet. Just a study into the ways and thought that goes into trading. Just interesting that's all. I don't know how I could be "bragging" when I traded a guy: 4 extremely limited BA bottles from a brewery with a great rep, 1 bcbcs, 1 hipster brunch, 4 juju, a rum barrel oil of aphrodite and a imperial stout trooper for one barrel aged stouts and a few extras lol. I'm pretty sure he's pleased with his end of the deal.

I was just sharing a recent experience. I've never (pre) traded beers before and this past few months have landed 2 of my biggest wants by doing so. Maybe a recommendation or a little advice, for those who have the sets and are now struggling to trade them. I get my comments may come off as bragging, so whatever. I feel it's more trying to shed light on a way to get better value on one some of the bigger releases in the PA/Ohio area since we don't get as much as states such as Cali/Florida. We all want to be able to trade away something limited for a limited beer or what we perceive to be a "whale"...
(Pre) trading can be risky if the beer ends up being the best thing since sliced bread and you regret it. BUT, was anyone really expecting that from a tequilla aged wheatwine? In the end this is all a fun hobby and shared interest. We're all drinking great beer and just sharing an experience. Sorry if it rubbed you the wrong way.

    Cheers Gents!
