I think this is where they are having the problem.

12 separate trades. 10 for the Vanilla, 12 for the Prop. Both guys were thrilled in getting them since they had never tried and probably had more than one of their respective trade beers. Just sharing that these limited beers we all have access to can land great stuff if you go about it the right way! It's not like I bought all the juju up and am laughing at you all as I trade it for big beers lol. Everyone has that same opportunity. It will come out again next year, and they're will be other people who are really seeking out a decent amount of it and may be willing to give up a big BA beer you ISO!

When you trade beers, you don't try to get the best value you can for it? I don't see anything wrong with that at all. My trade was 10000x times more fair than what the people have TG stouts are ****** people for, no? Now, people are getting way too low of value for the limited beers that are this years barrel room collection, don't you agree? The limited allotement is about as low as any release around the country and I've seen maybe about 2-3 Isos in the past month for it

I think when you are trying to max out value, that's where they are telling you it comes off as trying to win....that's all I am saying. It's just how I am interpreting their interpretation of your interpretation. Intemperate that as you will.

The lack of ISO on the Voodoo stuff is probably due to A. the styles they produced (not complaining, just saying) and B. that, past Bourmuda, the reviews aren't through the roof like they've been on their barrel room stuff in the past.

The supply is low, sure, but the demand just doesn't really seem to be there. It's not ALWAYS about getting max value, though. We've probably all been guilty of doing that from time to time, but by building solid relationships with good guys, there will be times when you give more and there will be times when you certainly get a lot more as well. If you're always trying to max everyone out on what they'll give you, you'll have a tougher time establishing those sorts of relationships.

True and I agree. I have 25+ trades between here and Reddit. I can assure you I've traded fairly with people and have added in nice extras when I do. If people are salty about the juju going for Prop and Vanilla, I apologize. But, I don't see how people can get too mad about me trading 120oz and 140oz of one of the highest rated DIPAs out there with 2 state distro for 22oz of great BA stout, when there are people asking for 120oz+ of super limited whales in return for a little 12oz ba stout called KBBS? THAT is highway robbery. My trade may be deemed as an amazing trade value for what I traded and received, but don't see that as the same as ripping someone off or trying to win. I spent more $ into the beer and shipping, and my partner was super happy with the fresh JuJu... If I told each and everyone one of you that you could land a prop and vanilla for a few 4 packs of JuJu in a PM, there would have been about 10 FTs: of JuJU ISO: prop and vanilla within 5 minutes. Let's be honest here

Correct. Much of the limited stuff I get from releases (Jackie O's, etc.) goes to regular trading partners for whatever they wanna send me, brewery-only or not. Do I try to trade some of them for wants other times? Sure, but it's never about "maximizing value." To me, Hop Juju is an extra and something that I also send to regular traders. But, apparently, @Mcj6986 and I trade differently. It's all good.

No, I agree with you. I think you got a GREAT deal, but I don't think you robbed anyone. If they were happy and you were happy then it really shouldn't be of great concern to anyone else.

And you're right RE what some people are demanding for SR71 and the like. I'd be embarrassed to ask for that sort of return.

If it helps my battered image at all on this board, I'll be a little more transparent. The DB Huna and Nutulhu I'm trading for are for a big bottle share I'm having at my home with 2 friends in a month or 2. The one is local and never trades for beer (I usually share good stuff with him). BUT, I work with him and he is the one who got me into craft beer 3 years ago by making me go to a local beerfest... I've been burning my wallet ever since. The other one is a guy I've become friends with through doing one of my first beer trades with him 2 years back (he got me into the beer trade game/addiction). He lives in VA and He has hooked up me with numerous boxes and surprise boxes around the holidays, I try to make it up to him, but he just seems to get everything. Excited to share the Rare, Prop, Nut, and Sr-71 (which I traded DB Huna for.. DAMN addiction! Lol) with both of these guys among other stuff. My wife and I are also aiming to start a family soon, so I have to greatly cut back on this trade game because of how expensive it can get and need to prioritize. So, I guess I also view it as a last hurrah for a while as well.

I was just shedding some light on the fact that these limited beers we have access to can pull some big boys. I think that's good news for all of us who aim to try some of the rare beers out there!

    Cheers!

This thread has gone way off topic. Maybe someone should start a "Pittsburgh beers you can and cannot trade and what you should expect on return" thread. I guess this is why there will never be a completed trades forum.

Slow to respond to the "hot topic" but I always laugh and scratch my head when ppl say voodoo or other BA beers are "hot"/boozy. It's a BA beer, you pay up for it, it better be hot imo. If I wanted something where I had to search for barrel character and or the whiskey, tequila etc, I'd buy $6/bottle Abita Bourbon St. Those guys claiming any BA beer is too "hot"/boozy are probably the same ones who order a strawberry daiquiri at a bachelor party and feel meat is murder. I traded a full set of 4 Voodoos, 4 Good Vibes and Lavery's Breakfast Stout for Plan Bee Woodshed, Treehouse and Flower City, along with a Oceanus Procellarum and 4 Carton Reg. Coffee. My trader has availability to the Plan Bees still and i have Voodoo still along with drank it all day in Meadville. I'm perfectly happy with the trade, took us 10 mins to hash it out.
