Anyone care to elaborate? I guess running out is what it is but as a person that attended friday first session for a reason to get rarer beers first and to find out that some breweries didn't serve some beers until Saturday what gives?!

I'm not aware of any brewers who waited until Saturday to serve a specific beer, however, beers do kick (it's the goal), brewers do ration beers between the sessions, and we do state that all beers are subject to change and availability.

If you have any specifics, please name breweries and we can look into it and address it if need be.

It seemed like all the stuff that would be apt to run out (CBS, Good Morning, Huna, etc) were all still available halfway through the third session.

Against the Grain was (at least as of the time of my visit on Friday evening) reserving some beers for Saturday. Specifically, Bo and Luke and, I believe, Citra Ass Down! were both not pouring until Saturday.

I'm guessing third session sold out the quickest for that very reason. I got in line for Huna as my 3rd stop Friday night and they were out. So it goes...

The only beer I'm aware of that ran out extremely quickly is Huna (like <20 minutes). Many other beers ran out, but you could get to most/all of them if you wanted. I didn't see anyone holding back beer at the Saturday afternoon session.

Yea agree on this one. The main beer that really annoyed was the Huna. Yes, I have had Huna so I am not going to bitch about it, but this was gone within the first 15-20 minutes of the session which is kinda absurd. Even Last Buffalo in the Park which had the longest lines lasted a decent amount of the session.

My only another bone to pick was with the GM Snozzberry. They showed the beer on their list, but it was not shown at the stand, and when I asked they said it wasn't pouring. Apparently, when one of the volunteers was wearing a pink shirt, that meant they were pouring Snozzberry secretly, which was a tad bit annoying playing a game to find when she was wearing a pink shirt.

There were definitely beers held out for Saturday, as mentioned above. I attended session #2 with someone who'd been there the night before for session #1. Several beers were tapped around 3 PM.

I can confirm that some booths did in fact hold beers for Saturday (Against the Grain held off at least 4, Nerax booth split up their 6 beers between the two days, The Other Half held off their Red Wine Barrel Stout 'til Saturday, and that's just off the top of my head).

That said, I have no problems with the practice. Even if everyone held off half their stock, that's still over 150 beers, way way more than is possible to sample in a session. As for the "rare" beers that kicked like Huna, well, go there first or trade for it. It should have surprised no one that Huna, CBS, Funky Buddha, and Tree House were going to be the most sought after and likely limited brews. Hell, Lost Abbey had Veritas '15, which is WAY more rare, and IMHO a more amazing beer, and NOBODY seemed to notice! I don't know why everyone is still so obsessed with Huna/CBS/etc... You can't try everything. Their was a TON of amazing beer all weekend, you can't have it all!

For the Saturday afternoon session, Snozzberry ran out but it was pouring (as far as I know - it was out when I got over to the booth). I don't know anything about a "secret pourer."

Breweries should be advised to bring a sixtel per session. That is roughly what is consumed for many of the beers and will last long enough for an entire session even with a long line/constant use. Just my two cents.

Besides Huna, the beer situation was basically flawless this year. Definitely going next year.

So it doesn't look like it was wide-spread, but rather a small handful of highly sought after beers. (Whalez, bro. Happens at every fest.) While we ask brewers to not conduct any form of scheduled tappings, it would be next to impossible to completely stop it. And you can't expect every brewer to bring enough of each beer for every attendee to try, which is why some "run out" and ration the rest in order to give other sessions a chance to try them.

Anyway. We'll continue to discourage the practice, however, all beers are subject to change and availability.

    Thanks for the feedback.
