When I attend Phillies games my preferred beers are:

    · Troegs Sunshine Pils

    · Victory Helles

I will have to keep an eye open this season to see if there is any Toasted Lager at Citizens Bank Park; maybe not since there is tons of Yuengling Lager there!?!

    Cheers!

The only issue I see is if he doesn't like wheat beers, you've got 2 of them in there.

maybe an amber or brown ale instead?

I forgot that PA ball parks have Troegs and Victory. A few years ago at Camden Yards, I drank my fair share of GI Honkers. That brew went well with the game...not so much for the ballpark prices. I'll still tap Honkers though, tasty brew.

fresh sucks and ten fidy were the first to come to mind. then maybe ramp into a speedway stout, if your friend liked the ten fidy?

val dieu triple was a major transition beer for me, back in the day

I see the SNPA, so maybe this is a bit too much hop but I would have loved a Ballast Point Sculpin. Not to big and pretty tasty of course. Not sure it's available where you are, JM2C. happy birthday to him!

Beer at MLB games have high prices everywhere!:slight_frown:

My wife keeps saying that we should buy a Beer Belly and fill it with my homebrewed beers when we go to the games. I have never purchased this since I figure the beer would get too warm.

Great Idea! Thin layer of aluminum foil and some Ice Packets taped on the bottom. Just wear an extra pair of boxers/briefs while attending. That should cure that.

Very thoughtful of you. Pretty much a perfect selection. Maybe just try to switch out the DirtWolf with Sucks.

My wife's preferred beer at the game is Hop Devil. She drinks more than one!

I honestly would avoid anything overly hoppy. DirtWolf may be a turn off the first time. I would start slow and get a very mild IPA if you want to include one. I have given several people that are not into beer IPAs and almost universally they think what I have is too bitter. I think probably the very high limit should be around 50 IBU as an introduction to the style, and if they enjoy, they can bump it up from there. Probably even safer to go even lower for a first one.

I have acclimated my wife to be able to tolerate around 60 IBU, but once it gets beyond that she just makes a face and says "hoppy" and won't drink any more of what I gave her. Her exception has been Stone Delicious, but she thinks that tastes like lemon candy.

What types of food and flavors does he like in general? Spicy-hot stuff? IPAs. Sweet tooth? Stouts and porters (using care about the amount of roast. Just think along these lines and you'll be able to come up some good ideas.

Spectrum is the way to go. Some people immediately love big flavors like hop bombs immediately, while others are really turned off by them (possibly forever), so I think variety is key.

SKA True Blonde Ale is my go to when a friend wants to try craft that isn't looking for anything crazy in terms of hops, abv, or flavors.

Also: SNPA, Oskar Blues Pinner, FW Pivo Pils, 3Floyds Gumball head

    Perfect leading with SNPA; it's a game-changer.

I'd also agree that Weihenstephaner Original is also a good choice since it is very mild to the palate. I am not a fan of it personally since I think it tastes like wet cardboard.

    Fantastic gesture. Good work, man.

    Cheers!

It took me a while to realize that Victory was on top of the Hop Game all along. Hop Devil on tap is so good. You can taste the Hop Resins in that brew. You know, that Amber/Cheese colored stuff.

Remove the Rochefort. Throw in a Leffe Brune instead. You can get six for the price of the one Rochefort. Leave the big one for your friend to discover on his own.

Weihenstephaner Original is not a wheat beer, but if you want to substitute it an Amber or Brown would certainly be a fine choice.

You're right. I guess in my brain, I think of their Hefeweizen first.

I've done the same thing. I was confused why a beautifully clear beer showed up at my table once when I ordered a Weihenstephaner. I double-checked the menu and sure enough, it was Original on the menu and not the Hefe. No worries, I love them both.
