that's a bang on great starting list. I'd only suggest something if I knew more about their drinking/taste preferences in general, but your choices there are excellent.

Brooklyn Brown is a solid beer for a newbie. It was favorite when I first got into craft beer.

My first forays into craft began with Newcastle, Killians, Guinness.

I don't care for Browns or ambers anymore but they led me into other things. Even stouts are down my list a bit.

I'd say definitely include a brown.

Head high for life! I live in the area too. Come by and pick something from my fridge/cellar if you want.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. So based on what i could get in singles (buying singles is hard to do here) this is what I went with

Sierra Nevada pale ale ( it's just a staple)
Sierra Nevada porter ( good intro to dark/malty beers)
Troegs cultivator helles bock ( tasty lager)
Weihenstephaner heffe Weissbier ( perfext heffeweisen example and good way to show wheat beer)
Victory hop devil ( felt it was a good place to start with hoppy beers)
Rochefort 10 ( despite some people advising against it, it was the beer that made me love belgian styles, and it's different from over this f else on the list)
Also including a few local ( and sort ofl local) favorites from kane, carton, and sixpoint

I always start my friends with Belgian Pale/Strong Pale like Golden Monkey by Victory, Pranqster by NorthCoast, Monkshine by Uinta. All of those are cheaper alternatives to Delirium or Duvel or Piraat. All are fantastic in my opinion, and I've never had a beer newbie not like them. Even my stepfather who drinks EITHER Crown and Sprite OR Michelob and NOTHING ELSE tried my Delirium one time and loved it.

Nugget nectar. My girl spits the beer I drink out and she liked.
