Garmet industry giant creates this large scale production facility out of nothing. Yeah, we knew a buy out/sale was coming. No one gives him flack for not creating a brewery out of "love". And now he sells? I expected more out of BA members

Any craft brewery with a "president" title is one I don't know I want to support.

Never heard of Perrin. If they brew a fine GFIPA that they were unable to distribute into my mug -Oskar can.
    I'm in.
There is a line of resentment for me on aquisitions ,inBev,but this does not approach it.

Hardly a giant facility. Have you been there? It is fairly large for a clean slate brewery, but I have been in others just as big or bigger. More a case of money getting as a cool hobby, and getting out when the investment is not showing the expected return.

How about craft breweries that have guys with CEO titles? You should be able to think of at least one.

This is one of the least competent ostensibly professionally done press releases I have ever read.

Also. Oskar has been so innovative and constructive to the evolution of craft beer that they have earned the benefit of the doubt and trust. But. You have to consider the early days of AB and how demand produced monstrous growth, which I myself was happily part of, to a monstrous
buyout. Oskar ,I assume, has collaborated with many smaller breweries.Including one of my locals, DC Brau, and I am not sure how I would feel if they became an acquisition.Bottom line if you are fortunate enough to have them. Support your local breweries if they can offer the quality that you appreciate. Their value is priceless.

Way better IMO than their overhyped and far overpriced Malted Milk Ball beer.

Disagree, but with that said, that is not and was never their beer...They wont/cant make that beer as its a former brewers recipe and he took it with him when he left....The same brewer has done this before at his other stops

If it is the guy who was at Founders some time ago, recently read he is opening his own place up by Alpine MI.

I figure as long as this means then can never release With Kindness again, we all win. My goodness that was the worse beer ever produced. Even Pappy barrels couldn't help that one...

Help me understand what Oskar Blues gets out of this. I see what the old owner gets-cashed out, and what the Brewers and management at Perrin get-support from industry vets they built a collaborative relationship with already. but what's in it for OB, that they couldn't have spent their money on elsewhere? The Michigan brewery isn't brewing/selling Old Chub or Dale's, it's brewing/selling, I guess, Perrin Grapefruit IPA etc. and it sounds like that will continue from the press release, as it was.

It's probably obvious but I'm too stupid to see it, help me out. I guess if they were going to expand it and turn it into a center for brewing and distributing OB Skus throughout the upper Midwest it would make sense but it seems like they are specifically taking pains not saying that's the point.

EDIT: Never mind, I clciked on the link to the Brewbound article and now I understand what OB is up to. They've got private equity money and are looking to buy as many as 6 smaller micros around the country. Expanding via M&A vs growing OB. Kind of the opposite tack from the one Lagunitas is taking...

The past tense on the statement led me to believe that his statement is referring to before the announcement.

    They found one!

Edit, my post said it was fairly well known in the area that Perrin was being shopped around. That was also confirmed by some industry people I had a few beers with last night.

Perrin is a good small brewery and this sounds like a move they were happy to do. Good for them. I trust Oscar Blues to do some good thigns

Capitalist pigs! How dare OB purchase a failing brewery that was looking for a buyer! The state should have taken over the brewery to make grapefruit IPA for the people! I think a Two Minutes Hate is in order!

Don't get your hopes up too high. Perrin's Grapefruit IPA is more like a grapefruit shandy than an IPA.

Actually, they weren't failing at all. More like flourishing, at least the taproom. The place is jammed packed every night, with up to an hour wait for a table on weekends. The location caters to the north end of town, those that don't want to drive into GR proper to hit up Founders/Vivant/Mitten/GRBC. From the brewing and sales side, they've always been a mainstay on many tap handles around town, but could never get their bottle distro going. Kill'em All and With Kindness were their first distributed bottles with some others were taproom only. Hopefully, this gives them a little more capital to expand bottle/can distro.
