I'll be taking the family to Disneyland in October. I've been searching for good bottle shops close by and would like to know what the locals would recommend. No bars and stuff 'cause i'll have my kids so other than Bevmo in cypress and Hollingshead are there any suggestions? Thanks

The obvious one is The Bruery Provisions shop in downtown Orange....just around the corner from Hollingshead...plus you can sample beer/flights.

And you don't get to sample beer at Hollingshead? At least the family at Hollingshead will give you a shot of beer before you try it. There is not a whole lot you'll find at Provisions that you won't find at Hollingshead. Hollingshead has a bigger selection, but is ~10-15% more in price.

Hollingshead probably has one of the best selection of bottles in Orange County, so just go there.

If you can, go to these places but definitely stop by Hollingshead. There is also a Total Wine in Tustin which is not far from Hollingshead and Bruery Provisions.

Depending on the time of day, those places can be 40 minutes away. Don't make it complicated for him. Hollingshead is all he needs.

Everytime I take the fams to Disneyand I stop at the Bruery Provisions on the way out of town. Its like 10 minutes from Disneyland. I stock up with Bruery goodies and then make the long drive back to NorCal. Be warned though, parking in downtown Orange sucks.

going to +1 Bruery Provisions, there's not a huge amount of overlap between there and hollingshead, and there's some historical value to Old Orange.

Also, when you go to disneyland, I definitely recommend getting park hopper tickets. By October Carsland should be manageable, and you're going to need (at least) a visit to the karl strauss truck(disney california adventure is the only place you can actually get a drink) if you're spending an entire day at the park.

I live in anaheim, so if you're looking for recommendations for other family friendly things to do in the greater OC area, shoot me a BM!

I live here and agree about the parking but can you really call fours streets a "downtown"?

Just Kidding. Hollingshead and Provisions and you should be good to go.

Beer options inside California Adventure have gotten a lot better in the last year or so. The Karl Strauss beer cart has always been great - but they've also added taps around the park for Racer 5 and Red Rocket (Bear Republic), Torpedo and SNPA (Sierra Nevada), and a few beers from Anaheim Brewing Co.

The new Carthay Circle bar has several bombers from The Bruery on sale for ~$16 each, which isn't too bad a price all things considered.

Hollingshead - great selection (taps and bottles), but a PITA to order (stand at the bar and hope you get noticed) and closed weekends, FYI.

I always just park in that lot behind Provisions. Never had an issue unless there was a special event going on at Provisions or there was a parade or something in "downtown" Orange.

Thanks guys for the info. My son really is looking forward to Car's Land, and now I am too. Racer 5 and Red Rocket are on my list of beers to try when I get there.

If you go to Hollingshead's, make sure you take out a loan first.

Couple of questions that are worth knowing answers to, are you actually staying at a hotel in Anaheim? Will you have a rental car/own car? How far are you will to drive?

Also one thing to note. If you go to the BevMo in Cypress, they get their beer shipments in on Fridays.

There are a ton of really good liquor stores near Anaheim, but they will take a little drive to get to.

I was thinking of going to the BevMo in Orange. Did you happen to know when their beer shipment is? I'll have a car and will be looking for places that are close to where my wife and family want to go.

If you're going to BevMo in Orange, then go to Wine Exchange about 1/4 mile away on Tustin St. They don't have a huge selection, but they do have some specialty stuff you won't find at BevMo.

I highly suggest hi-time as well in Newport! Also check out Bootleggers up in Fullerton (both a little bit of a drive but totally worth it).
