I log them all into BA. If I feel compelled to write a review I do it. If not, I at least have a numerical value to note what I thought. Since we can sort by all the needed fields it works well. And with the app I can do this at the time I'm enjoying the beer, and with about 30 seconds of effort. Much better than taking notes, when the situation may make that not possible.

I have a small Moleskine notebook where I will write the Beer Name, Brewery, Style, and some notes about appearance, aroma, flavour, body, and a general rating out of 5.

After that I enter my rating and review here on BA and let the site organize it for me :sunglasses:

I take notes in a moleskine 3.5" x 5.5" hardbound ruled notebook. Its tactile and fits easily in a cargo pant's pocket or a shirt pocket. I transfer the stuff to a word file organized by brewery. I don't like spiral notebooks or three ring binders because the pages come out and the spiral gets hooked on stuff if you have it in a backpack.

Ditto. Mine is tailored to my preferences, but the ability to sort however I please is the real appeal.

I was keeping all the hand notes, after logging them into the spreadsheet. Eventually that seemed silly, as it either took too much time for penmanship or I lost the ability to read my notes after a few months.

I have a similar spreadsheet in Excel, organized into two separate sheets.

The first sheet is a list of all the beers I currently have in my cellar/beer fridge, w/ fields for brewery, beer name, style, ABV, container volume, quantity, current location (cellar or fridge), date bottled, "best by" date, notes, etc. This info is invaluable for staying on top of my cellar, and it's great to be able to sort the data however I want to quickly pick out a beer I'm in the mood for.

The second sheet is for tracking all my reviews, but also retains most of the same data from the first sheet. Thus I have a backup of all my reviews on BA.

You search for a beer you've had (preferably recently) and give it a score, 1-5 in 0.25 increments, based on five categories and you'll get the score for that beer. You can then filter the beers you've had by style, state, top 250, etc.

I've got 1,098 distinct beers on Untappd, but not sure I want to take the time to convert them all onto here. Has anyone else been in this dilemma and attempted it? I'd really like to.

I have a .docx file. Its sorted by brewer/name of beer. I sucked it over to Google docs in case I'm without a printout (2 sided) and have my Droid handy. Usually I can spot a beer I've never had before. The problems come when a brewer "re-brands" an old beer.
