Mixing beer with other alcohol.

Liquor before beer never fear. I like a few shots of Jamison before I start into beers for the evening. Usually don't swap back and forth......

 

-Make a French 75 with lambic of some sort instead of Champagne.
-Cover a slug of Carpano Antica with a Russian imperial stout.
-Drop a slug of Amer Picon with a dash of lemon syrup in a wheat beer.
-Top gin, St. Germain, rosemary simple syrup, and grapefruit bitters with a juicy, fruit forward IPA.

As for actually alternating booze in with beer, try switching between a good, 10 year+ old rum and a Belgian quad. It does stuff to your nether regions. Also, for hangovers, black coffee + Bailey's alternated with Sam Adams has always got me to rally.

 

In the summer I collect empty screw top pint cans, put a cup of hot V8 in each and a squeeze of lime, then fill with some kind of cheap BMC, screw shut and refrigerate. Add a shot of Stoli when I open them-makes a great after-gardening or lawn mowing drink. Yes, that is sleeping with the enemy----

As long as one is drinking in moderation, mixing liquor and beer is not a problem. Mixing becomes a problem when people are being irresponsible with alcohol.

my keg party drink of choice was flaming dr. Pepper, half pint bud, shot of amaretto topped with 151. That'll get the job done

 

Allahash White mimosa. Shot of Bacardi citron in a shoffenhoffer. The only two I've have past bicardi limon in a corona past my college days. All were good at the time. I'm not opposed but it's nothing I do on the regular.

 

I do not mix, usually, but if I do, it's Scotch, and only Scotch. Same ingredients after all, that being malt...

Hairy Buffalo's. Pick a room mix like 2 gallons of water and a container of kool-aid with whatever people brought. Qhiskey, beer,wine vodka,mad dog 2020. Coed -No shoes allowed. So it got sloppy. And of course there wound up being some nudity. I had THE worst hangover of my life after one of these. 30 yrs. Ago Ouch.

 

I've often thought about the similarities between beer and Scotch whisky. I truly enjoy both of them. They basically start life the same way, until you throw in the hops. That said, I rarely mix the two because as I get older the headache gets bigger. Sure, it actually seems like a good idea when I'm in the middle of doing it, but not so much the next day...

 

Guess I'm a lightweight but I like to stick to just beer so I know how much I drink especially if I am holding the car keys. With mixed drinks it's easy to drink too much or lose count ...

 

I learned it as " Beer before whisky, pretty risky. Whisky before beer, nothing to fear."

 

I usually don´t mix unless I want to get drunk and I´m out of beer, then scotch or mezcal will do the trick.

 

I love good whiskey and good wine and good beer, I been known to have all 3.
plus I have a high tolerance always have. ;.)

The other night I sampled some of my father-in-laws bourbons in between pre-dinner beers. Then he had some 10 year old wines open that I sampled at dinner.

 

In HS we used to skip school to go bass fishing. A case of Genny pounders and a bottle of Jack. Boilermakers made for an interesting day.
