    Hello BA Gents,
Long story short, I'm from California where we normally can't get anything Great Divide, but my cousins on vacation and they have a few bottles in stock. My growing concern is of the two Yeti variations that look to be of old stock. I know proper storing of beer is pretty vital and stouts are known to cellar well, but would you guys take a chance or should I just wait until I can find them all fresh? Also what do these bottles usually run for price wise?

2010 Great Divide Oak Aged Yeti - $9.99
    2011 Great Divide Chocolate Yeti - $10.99
2012 Great Divide Espresso Oak Yeti - $10.99

    Thanks for any help.

Those prices look reasonable to me. Maybe a little high but that 2 year old Oak Aged Yeti is going to taste fantastic.

Yeah, the Chocolate and Espresso Yeti's are always about a dollar more expensive! These prices are reasonable. I would snatch these up and worry about freshness when I find fresh bottles. I've had the 2010 Oaked aged Yeti multiple times and its amazing!!!

Drink up man! Yeti can definately hold its own for a few years. The only think I'd think would be that some of the cayenne pepper may have mellowed out from the chocolate yeti, but it will still be delicious. Yeti is one of my favorite beers fresh or aged.

I really do not like Yeti fresh at all but with a year mimimum on it they are amazing IMO. I say go for it.

Thanks Guys! On a side note I JUST found out my aunt (notorious for always asking favors) is in Colorado for the rest of the week on business, so now its time to cash in. Haha I'll probably still have my cousin pick up a bottle of each since it sounds like the older stuff will be just as good if not better. (My poor wallet :/ Haha)

I bought a year old espresso yeti not too long ago and thought it was perhaps past it's prime. The other two are great buys though.

Edit: had i read closer, i'd have realized the espresso is from this year. so go for them all!!!!!

my advice: make sure she grabs some stuff from odell. they're great.

re: yeti variations, in my experience they've always been good, regardless of time on the shelf.

I believe the Belgian variation of yeti is out or soon to be out and that style is also a winner. I definatily agree with Pahn, get some odell. I just moved out of their distribution range and I miss them so much.

I found the Espresso ages quickest and doesn't hold up over time, so if you get that one, drink it up. The others are better candidates for pulling thru with some age.

I'm in San Jose and the only places in Cali I've heard are either in L.A. or San Diego. If you know of any Yeti in Norcal please share the info and I promise not to be greedy. Haha

Thank to everyone for the info and comments. My list is out to my aunt in Denver, so hopefully she is willing and able. CANT WAIT! Now to calm myself with a beer. Haha Cheers everyone!

Those are very fair prices... for very good beer!

Chocolate Yeti, however... I find is better fresh. The times I have aged it, it did exactly as El Zilcho says... the cayenne ages out... so if you're into it being spicier, try to find it fresh. I'm into it, myself. Whipped cream on the ice cream as it may.

Thanks Lutter, I'm getting bottles of both the older and fresh stock, so hopefully I'll be able to compare them side to side next week some time.
