Probably wouldn't have bought this had I not been a fan of Texas musician Robert Earl Keen. Unlike REK its a delicate brew with a sweet finish. It definitely won't be a regular buy for me, but I see it as a great hot summer beer when you really want more refreshment than flavor.

I've almost bought this several times. Guess now I'll finally give it a try.

This is a really good beer IMHO. There's some real talent at Perdenales Brewing. Maybe not beer nerd type stuff but they really mail those German styles.

Mail them back to Germany? I bet shipping is expensive

Re: the beer - I would love it if it was drier. It's a little sweet for me.

Too sweet and not crisp enough.

This, I really wanted to like it. Thought it was to sweet and there are so many better Pilsners made in Texas. I don't want honey in a pils, just make a good no frills lager and I will be all over that. Oh wait, that is called Hans Pils and Live Oak Pilz, and ABW Pearl Snap

Agreed, though these days, Pilsner Urquell is ubiquitous and fresh enough that it's my go-to when I want a pils and don't need it to be canned.

As a longtime REK fan I bought this beer but have to say was very underwhelmed. would have preferred more crisp and less sweetness.

Franconia is now bottling their Pilsner and I strongly recommend it.

It sounds like you guys were expecting a traditional pilsner and ignoring the "honey" part. This is an easy drinking beer for casual drinkers, made with honey malt. It's supposed to be smooth and a little sweet. It's in no way supposed to be a traditional pilsner. OK

Maybe they shouldn't have used the "Pils" in the name and just called it honey lager. Anyway, I still think this is good for what it is, but yeah, if I want a pilsner, I'm getting Hans. ..or, Pearl Snap, or Prima our Urquel.

I really like this beer... yes it isn't Hans Pils... but it really isn't trying to be.

Is Pilsner Urquell not canned? I'm pretty sure I see it at my local grocery store in 4 packs of pints.

Its just the addition of honey that turns me off to trying this one. I've yet to have a beer I really liked that added honey. Just not my thing.

I've seen the cans exactly once and it was in Dallas. The stores around here only seem to stock the new 11.2oz brown bottles.
