I can't be the only one that takes satisfaction in when you nail your OG? It's not a Super Bowl victory by the Patriots but it is a good "atta boy" when you stick the landing. Thanks to Vikeman for Brewcipher. First time using it and first time hitting the OG. Much appreciated!

I feel you. I just brew my first beer last week and my heart racing while watching the hydrometer. It's the fg I'm more worried about now. What did you brew? I did an oktoberfest ale

Absolutely, and I don't mind admitting that it's happened much more frequently since I started using brewcipher.

That's the whole reason I brew.

It´s an achievement worthy of a nice beer.

I got to the point I was frustrated at my 62% efficiency and missing my OG that I changed back to batch sparge and ran a ton of calculations, now I hit the numbers and get 68% efficiency. Happy dance at the end of brew day now!

As the hydrometer bounces up and down I'll admit I have a Montage of the brew day with some lame 80's song going through my head. And when I nail it I jump in air fist raised.. And then the credits start rolling.

My pops and a couple buddies helped me brew my massive Imperial Stout a couple months ago shooting for an OG of 1.150. Final reading once chilled was 1.156. My pants moved a little. I love hitting gravity but until the beer is finished, kegged, carbed, and in my glass tasting how I wanted it to I'm never truly satisfied.

I usually hit it, unless I've changes something major in my process.

Started milling my own grain with a M3, which my LHBS has to us to use, so I was stoked to hit the same gravity with no change for the first time using my own mill a while back.

I nerd out now, for hitting my water profiles and mash pH's based off my grist.. Been hitting my OG's so consistent, I don't even bother with a mash gravity, or pre boil anymore usually.

Hit my target OG exactly on Friday night for the first time. I'm usually ballpark, but a couple points up or down. It was satisfying.

If my best beers hit their target gravity then I am happy...if the mediocre ones hit their target gravities... not so much. : )

I've only done it a few times, but I'm basing it off "Brew target" which is basically a generalized calculator (not super accurate). I've been skimping out on buying a decent program like Beersmith. Normally I'm very close, but sometimes I overshoot by up to 5-8% or more. Nonetheless, the beer has been good! Part of it could be that I'm still getting use to my newer system.

I get giddy when the beer I drink peaks. I've only taken a handful of gravity readings this year.

BrewCipher is free. I think it's decent.

I definitely let out a 'fuck yeah' when I hit my targets right on.

I like seeing a huge ferment, and hitting my target FG more than anything.

More like I get pissed when I don't hit it.

Mine is still fermenting....if I hit my number I'll report back. I agree. That one is harder to hit and more satisfying. I was just enjoying the moment of the first stage...small victories in life get me through the day.
