Do you belong to a tasting group?

    I belong to an Ale Sampling Society. (acronym unneeded, and lagers are also consumed) It is a fun group where we present breweries or styles and occasionally have other functions strictly for the fun of trying beers. Do you belong to a structured sampling society?

    Define...."sampling"........is a full 22oz a good sample size? I'd like this kinda group. Pricey but I'd like it ;-)

    More like 4-6oz tastes and discussion afterwards, kind of geeky I guess, but it is a cool way to learn and try knew things.

    My local watering hole has a great beer program and a very nice owner who allows the beer people to share at the bar on certain occasions. We provide food purchase, butts in the seats and always at least one or two pours from their taps. It's the best thing ever.

    Not that I know of in my area...but I'm sure there are plenty of secret societies in D.C. that do so...

    I don't think there's a sampling group in my area, or at least, not to my knowledge. But a few friends and I will get together once or twice a month and have some pours together and share our beers and kind of critique them and the like.

    When we can a few of us here get together and everyone brings some regular stuff and a bottle or two of some rare as well, and occasionally a home brew or two, then we pop them and everyone gets a small pour. Great way to try stuff we might all otherwise not get a chance to try due to cost, scarcity, etc. Plus its cool hanging out with some other like minded folks and just talk about beer, brewing, etc.

    Me and my best bud lg64strat have had a standing once a week two man sampling group for over 20 years...here's to another 20!

    Oh yes we have Ye Olde Ale Sampling Society here in RI. We frequent Taverns and various Alehouses of the area sampling various ales porters and stouts.
