Your local shop may say they can order more later from the distributor but trust me it will be sold out by the distributor by then. Unless your local shop is in tight with the distributor. My best friends owns a very famous bottle shop and his distributor said the same thing and when he tried to order more they told him it was sold out.

I dont want to say easy but.....it is not that hard to get in Chicago. Pretty much everyone gets some.

The local shop where the "second allocation" talk came from has to deal with the evil Allied Distribution, a company about which nobody in their distribution area has anything nice to say.

I've tried at four stores on various day-of-release dates to no avail (at most, seeing twenty bottles at a store). If you know where these are shelf turding, by all means let me know.

Oh they dont sit by any means. My comment was more directed at most stores get at least a case so in my opinion it wasnt hard to get 2.

Yeah but after the fact of release it's probably almost impossible to get some in chicago. I'm in so cal and every store sold out within a few hours of receiving their shipmemt.

Yea the only chance now it small corner stores that you would never guess had it. I found bcbs and bcbcs like that a few weeks ago.

Perhaps at the tiny stores where people didn't think to look, but it was an epic PITA on the north side of Chicago - all sold out everywhere within a few hours. I am just lucky I can duck out of work in the morning and grab some, but a few of my buddies who tried to do the same at lunch time missed out...

A buddy had a few pleasant surprises with the regular, but haven't seen any coffee sitting - nice score!

Full disclosure it was in the burbs and out side of the city but still "chicagoland" for the bcbs and thanks it was a happy suprise.

Yeah, I have heard down state people run across half a case of it just sitting around but I feel that is getting less and less common - too many people are looking for the limited releases, so most stores get scoured clean pretty quick...

A buddy did pick up half a case at a Walgreens in the city last month, which was pretty surprising - someone had forgotten about it and it had sat in the back of the cooler for the last 3 months, and he was the lucky person to walk in after the spring cleaning of the stock room...

I have a hunch Parabola isn't going to be like that since it is allocated to a smaller footprint of stores - not many Walgreens getting random cases of Parabola or Sucaba I suspect...

Maybe not walgrees but I mean all if not almost all liquor stores are geeting a case, whole foods, speacilaty wine stores, ect. Thats why I found it easy. Yea tracking it down at binnys when they tweet a release is going to be impossible but if you work the local stores it wasnt hard to get.

Interesting. A lot of the smaller stores by me didn't get a case - the wholefoods got 1 case of 6 bottles (half of which went to staff)... Different county / distributor up by me I guess.

I have found a pocket of FW bottles at a local market. Picked up XVIII and two bottles of Parabola. They also had Velvet Merkin and Abacus.

Gotta use the FW beer finder!

This is kind of funny, but not. The beer sales manager at Nugget in the pocket of Sacramento says that he orders everything on everyone's portfolio. Literally, he gets everything Firestone Walker has to offer. Anniversary, Parabola, Sucaba are all sitting on the shelf right now as though no one is familiar with how popular these beers are. It's kind of sad. I thought that Sacramento was quite a beer community. I wouldn't of expected this. I shouldn't complain... Nope. But I do care about the appreciation of a good beer.

Any sightings in PA yet? I haven't seen it in the Philly metro area.

Will this still be around Chicago next week? I'm flying in for work and would love to find some.

It all landed a few weeks ago, so very unlikely you will find any at retail. Probably an easy IP trade to set up though. If you have some local / non-Chicago distro beers to swap with someone you should be able to get a $ for $ In Person trade.

Sac IS a huge beer community. It is just that Nugget Market is not a known place, especially when it comes to the beer community. People usually go to the places known to carry specialty beers. Food markets are rarely the choice even though they may get some from time to time. So, yes, the people that go to that store aren't familiar with that beer, which means the people who go to that store aren't a part of the beer community.

Saw it posted at a bar/bottleshop outside Philly today. Hitting the same time as KBS and Tired Hands is releasing bottles all week. Wallets and heads exploding everywhere
