There have been the past few years. No idea who runs it. I just usually show up with bottles.

I've never stayed at either hotel but my group will be staying at the Ramada this year. It was one of the last cheapest/closest/decent hotels left in the area.

My group is staying at the Super 8. Never stayed there before but it's a place to rest your head. Not too worried about where it's located at (it's not "hood" or anyrhing over there nor is it in Gary lol)

Plus it's not like anyrhinf of value will be anywhere near that place until 10 pm or so when we drunkenly stumble into our rooms.

I'm at the Residence Inn. I'm hoping something will be going on in the cluster of 3 hotels and planned on wandering around if nothing concrete comes together.

Any of you seasoned vets know the best way to get from FFF from that group of Hammond hotels? I'm hoping calling a cab company in advance will do the trick. I'm not counting on any shuttles, but that would nice.

I'll b at the residence in Hammond. Looking for bottle share in the area as well as transportation. We might have 2 vehicles yo drive there, cab back to the hotel after dld, then go pick up the car in the morning. I assume vehicles can be left overnight?

A large percentage of people attending Dark Lord Day don't like the metal bands they get already. In fact many people consider that music to be trash with the screaming, growling, and indecipherable death metal vocals. The truth is it is very easy to avoid the music altogether, unless you make a point of going up to the stage it will be nothing more than background nose that can be easily ignored. These people have a great time at DLD year after year, even if they think the music sucks.

I am positive you will be able to enjoy the fest without being "subjected" to this "trash music" as you call it. They will post when Big Freedia is playing and you can just avoid Stage 2 at that time.

The fact that you made so many posts about how disappointed you are, instead of just shrugging it off and ignoring it seems to suggest you have an issue with a black or trans person being invited to DLD.

A buddy and I stayed at the Super 8 just to the west in Hazel Crest the Friday before DLD '13 because it was amazingly cheap (and was the only place to have available rooms). Probably the sketchiest motel I've ever stayed in. We passed by some pretty unsavory characters that were milling around the lobby at midnight when we returned from the Flossmoor Station Friday night party. Having said that, you have the right idea. Don't leave anything of value in your car, don't dillydally on your way to the room, and don't think too much about any random stains. You may feel a bit dirty in the morning, but you'll be fine.

All I can say to that is you really don't know a thing about me, especially if you think I have any issues with black or LGBT people.

I'll be there just like the last two years. We bought our own pizza last year, forget the place, but it was delicious.

Jesus, you are really beating a dead horse. Get over yourself. The key word here was SUGGESTS. Sell your ticket already.

Defending myself against baseless accusations is hardly beating a dead horse.

    Anyway, back to beer.

    24 days to go.

Yeah, this is exactly how I feel about the whole thing. I don't like metal at all, but I don't go to DLD for a concert, so it doesn't bother me at all that it's playing. And if a 2nd stage is being devoted to Freedia, while that's not necessarily an artist I would listen to, I think it'll make for a cool change of pace for the event (and a break from metal for those that want one).

If I were a fan of metal I can see arguing about which bands should've been included, but it doesn't make much sense to complain about music being added as an addition to what will already be there. Especially since the beginning and end of the event is to drink, share, and buy beer.

I stayed at 2 of those hotels for the 15 year anniversary party and DLD a few years back and calling a cab to pick you up from the hotel shouldn't be an issue at all. In fact, there will most likely be other groups of people taking a cab as well so you could even split a van cab with another group and it would be really cheap. Just get the cab drivers number for the ride back and you should be all good.

I don't know you. Just thought you should know how you are coming off. You seemed to be offended by the beer label and the fact that he is playing there. This is why people are ganging up on you.

Anyone hear if they are doing in brewery ticket sales again this year for locals? Two friends I always go with did not have luck with online sales.
