On Monday, the Chicago burbs were selling individual bottles @ $5.99/12oz bottle, limit 2/customer, and they still sold out within hours of the delivery.

That's assuming we only sell craft beer. Most profit is derived from liquer/wine. A lot of product is carried close to cost just to get heads in the door.

Also Illinois has some of the highest excise taxes for liquer in the country. Same with ny. I'll hop the border to get beer not in my distro (personal consumption) and the prices are always a dollar or two more than in nj for the same product. Add a couple bucks more onto that if u go into NYC.

I just saw it for $21.99. While tempted, I passed. Nothing to do with price, but simply because I'm TheIPAHunter®. I figured someone more appreciative of the style deserved to have it.

$6-10 is around the range every year I have seen.

All the better beer stores here are doing limits of a bottle per customer or various other methods to ration out theirs. Went to a store, asked after I brought up a bunch of stuff to pick up, told I couldn't buy it because they had a first come first serve signup call list for when it came in and I wasn't on it. Another store was doing 1 bottle limits, so I went to a local convenience store that sells craft and walked in instead. Theirs came in and I picked up my 4 pack. $23.99 and no fuss or hassles involved.

True - I forget about some of the hidden taxes. Wisconsin is cheaper for that reason for me too.

I just tried to buy some KBS and it was sold out. The employee said people were lined up outside before they opened and it sold out in 15 minutes. I'm guessing it is sold out across the city and will not be looking for it.

I did pick up a 6 pack of Deschutes Inversion IPA though, good stuff. Good luck to everyone trying to acquire this beer.
