And, of course, the ESB from Broad Ripple Brewpub. My all-time favorite beer.

This is the right answer.....probably until Central State gets up and running.

What you think of the Lift-Off?

I've tried quite a few from Triton. I went to a beer tasting a few years back, where all the food was made with Triton beers, and had samples of (I think 5 beers). All of the beers were just "ok". Nothing that stood out. Also, I'm really not a fan of Railsplitter at all.

    So, just MNSHO.

As far as better, yeah I have to go with Sun King, Daredevil, Tow Yard, Tin Man, Black Acre, Great Crescent, etc.
    And of course Three Floyds.

Not a fan of Upland, Flat 12 (Half Cycle is undrinkable IMO), and Fountain Square is just average.

Definitely a lot of mediocrity in central Indiana. But Black Acre and Brugge are special. Cutters is closing shop and I wouldn't be surprised to see more follow suit.

Hey all, just tagging onto this thread --

I'll be in town for the Final Four this Friday through next Tuesday. Staying near LucasOil Stadium and all that. Any recommended bottle shop(s) nearby? And planning to hit up Sun King one night, but how crowded does it typically get over there on game/event days?

    Thanks in advance!

I mentioned upthread Crown Liquor at the corner of Delaware and Ohio Streets. You'll be right by it. It has one of the best selections in the city. Sun King will be packed, but then again, with the Final Four in town, EVERYTHING will be. But worth a visit anyway.

Also recommended for places in your area:
For Sushi - Forty Five Degrees at College and Mass Ave
The Rathskeller - Great beer selection. Great German food. Great atmosphere. The place is enormous.
    For burgers - Bru Burger
    Pizza - Bazbeaux
The Slippery Noodle (right by Lucas)
Also, I highly recommend Bakersfield on Mass Ave for tacos, I dare say it will rival what you can find in California.

Downtown Indy is very walkable. Clean and safe, avoid Circle Center Mall however, especially at closing time. They've been having trouble with the teen riff raff lately. I'm sure there will be a big police presence for the Final Four, so, in actuality, probably won't be an issue.

See my post upthread for local breweries.

Have fun and enjoy your visit.

Tavern on south is the closest place to lucas oil for food and beer. It is much better than slippery noodle (shit food, shit beer, and it's always a shit show)

The German food at the Ratskeller might be good if you have never been to Germany.

Their apple streudel is awesome. Authentic or not.

I'd recommend going solely to try their super spicy mustard. If you're into horseradish mustard that clears your sinuses immediately, it's awesome. Soft pretzel + spicy mustard + a liter of Optimator = a good time in my book.

That mustard had me in tears when I first bit into it. Now I take it slowly and reap the benefits. So good.

Did this the first time I had it years ago, as I love horseradish mustard. Got so light-headed I had to sit down. It was awesome, haha.

Make sure you find your way to Tomlinson Tap Room upstairs in the City Market for 19 taps of all Indiana beers as well, always some good stuff there....

This man speaks the truth. And a walk to New Day and/or Fountain Square Brewery would be a good option while you're in the area.

Stopped at Sun King this weekend while on a road trip and it was awesome. Will be stopping through anytime I am in Indy.
