    2012 Nugget Nectar.

I was wrong to dismiss this as an overrated beer. It's not exactly my favorite considering the strong malt profile, but it still manages to retain excellent hop dominance. I typically prefer more of a tame malt presence, while still being easy-drinking yet dank on the hop end... but this is certainly not a B+ beer as I once claimed... it's more like A-. Very well done, Troegs. And the clarity is amazing this year. However, I still think that fresh Hopback Amber on draft has better overall hop character. If you could create a blend of Hopback Amber and Nugget Nectar while providing more PtE dankness at the same time, then I think I would have a new favorite brewery.

Reached into the fridge for what I thought was a Lagunitas Imp. RED and found that I had 1 more "Sucks". I figured I better drink this now so thats what I am having. They can't rebrew this fast enough as far as I'm concerned.

Started off the night with a homebrewed pale wheat ale hopped with Simcoe / Amarillo, dry hopped with Citra / Amarillo that paired well with some roasted pork tenderloin and over roasted potatoes.

Moved on to a homebrewed oatmeal coffee stout afterwards that is rounding into shape very nicely after two months in the bottle. Was hoping the coffee hadn't started fading, but it is so much nicer now than it was fresh after bottle conditioning.

Now I'm enjoying a Zombie Dust while watching the Bulls / Pacers and listening to some Civil Wars. Mock if you will, but they are some of the best songwriters out there at the moment.

    Cheers!

Had my first Zoe with dinner, it was great and seemed to pack a bigger punch than expected.
Finishing the night off with a Nugget Nectar.

BA HiFi thanks to my man Carleton, rather tasty. Really improves with warmth, rye spiciness carries through but a subtle vanilla evens things out a bit. Moved on to a Bell's Batch 10K to end the night. Keeps on improving with each bottle I open.

    Cheers!

Starting and finishing with a Damnation Batch 23, very impressed with how rr was able to hide the 11% abv. Also a good triple.

Have you had Tröegs Perpetual IPA? I thought that was similar to Nugget Nectar in that the hop profile was fucking awesome, and the malt profile, while very different from NN (pale ale vs. amber ale, less caramel and more biscuit / toasted grain) was also similar in that the malt profile was very skillfully crafted—just a lot more attention paid to the malt body than you usually see in hop bomb-style IPAs.

So excited they're making that a seasonal.

Perpetual is A LOT sweeter. Great hop profile, but sticky sweet for me. I have a bitter tooth (opposite of sweet tooth) so don't mind me. But you're right on the malt profile. Both beers emphasize this in very different ways, but IMO Nugget Nectar is a lot more drier... which is better I think for a hoppy beer. Personally, I prefer low characterful malts in IPAs. But I can see why some people prefer the opposite.
