    Easy.

Do one now.. wait 6 months, and drink it again. You be the judge.

I personally think fresh is best.. Aged is fine, but the coffee fades, and the coffee flavor KBS has, isn't the greatest, IMO.

As it's been said fresh is better. I've had a one year vertical taste and the aged one lost a lot of coffee and is definitely more mellow than the fresh batch. I had one fresh this year and it was good, but I think a few months of aging could make it better.

I like mine right around 6 months. Makes it a bit more chocolate forward and helps bring out the barrel a bit. But you should definitely drink one fresh. I've never had the self control to go past a year, so I don't know about going longer than a year.

Fresh fresh fresh IMO. Had a '14 recently and it thinned out and was pretty coffee dull compared to a fresh '15 which was everything thy makes this beer remarkable...Cheers!

Had a vertical of 2014 and 2015 KBS, preferred the 2015 as the coffee was more apparent. That being said, the 2014 was still delicious!

So based on this, wouldn't you prefer age on it?

Personally, I like it fresh but those that I have aged had bourbon flavors that were much more pronounced.

No.. when I say their coffee isn't the greatest, I find it turns into a green bell pepper note that happens when it gets aged in some cases. Other coffee forward beers get this at times.

So you're saying you won't be brewing a green pepper beer any time soon. I wonder if the flavors will fade and taste like coffee.

I like green bell peppers just fine. Not in my beer though. Have only had a couple coffee beers do this and have had others comment on the same thing.

I had a 2015 and a 2014 this weekend and I can honestly say I won't drink it fresh again. I didn't get a ton of coffee in the 2015 so fading wasn't an issue. The 2015 was overly boozy for me, but the 2014 was perfect.

Also had a Lagunitas High-Westified and the coffee was much more prevalent in that than in the 2015 KBS.

Fresh. Already had one. this beer is already smooth and not super hot like a narwhal or BCBS.I look at it this way you see people saying ot age stuff to get rid of the boozyness ( then why are you drinking barrel aged stouts?) I don't know what you be trying to get out of this beer by aging. I

I much prefer this beer to be consumed fresh, but it does age fairly well short-term. Yes, the coffee will fade but it still tastes very good around 1 to 1.5 year(s). I have not had good results with bottles longer than 2 years.
