Three brothers brewing announced a name change this morning. They'll now be known as Brothers craft brewing. It looks like they made the change to avoid possible future legal issues. It's really unfortunate that it's gotten to the point where a name change is a necessary precaution, but after all of the recent lawsuits in the craft beer world I can see where they're coming from. They'll be offering all of the same delicious beers so no need to worry resolute fans!!

    Read about it here: https://brotherscraftbrewing.com/why-stop-at-three/

Probably because of Two Brothers in Illinois?

Interesting. Hard to tell, but it sounds from the tone of the post that they may have worked out an arrangement with another brewery on the new name (Two Brothers would be my guess as well, but who knows). Without an agreement, you'd think they would have just dropped the "brother" completely, as I doubt just dropping the "three" would have definitively resolved the potential issue.

    How about '5-3+1 Brothers Brewing'?

Somehow we would all still be stupid enough to get it confused with someone else and buy the wrong package.:rolling_eyes:

It may not have been any brewery actually giving them trouble. There are other scenarios. Especially if they had been trying to trademark their name. It may not have been granted.

You may have info outside of the press release. Reading the press release it does not say who actually initiated the contact. I know of a similar situation where the brewery that changed the name initiated the contact and the press release read basically the same. My main intent was to honor 3 brothers not wanting to name the brewery and the subsequent vitriol we will hear.

edited to say. Good job 3 brothers for handling a situation as an adult.

All good. I won't take the route I'd like to take either :grinning: and I'm impressed with the way Adam and the gang have handled it. It's true I know a little more than what is out there, but for the sake of being the bigger guys, I won't go there. As much as I do know, I wasn't in on how the announcement would be made. I was more than pleasantly surprised and when I read it I felt good about it, because in the end, Three is better than Two and what's better than both? Infinite. So Brothers Craft Brewing is bigger than numbers. :grinning: It's silly, just like some of the other brand fights, but hey, what's done is done and it's time to show them that they didn't actually win.

I wouldn't put "Brothers" "Dog" or any other generic name in my title at this point. It's a cluttered market, so why get confused to Two Brothers and likely others that area already out there.

Right? At this point people need to just start making up shit. I think Gluuden Steinophel Brewing Co. sounds ..... well, ridiculous. But at least no one owns it!!!
