Troegs is by far my favorite of the much ballyhooed PA German-style breweries. Just felt the Dreamweaver missed the mark just slightly.

Well then, I no longer trust your palate. :stuck_out_tongue:

Completely off-topic, but I've often been accused of being a "lover of traditional styles". I want it to be known that I snagged two bottles of Kentucky Breakfast Stout today, and plan on having it on tap this weekend if I can find it. So there.

The year-round you're referring to is this one, right? I saw that one but grabbed the spring seasonal instead (which I duly enjoyed). Will have to grab the other here eventually, for science, of course. Also had their Czech pils, by the by, which was tasty enough, if not particularly memorable. Think I'll stick w/ Urquell.

I believe so, but mine always come in the TJ's packaging, so it's difficult to be sure.
I believe they have two Pilsners as well...

Just had a couple of ultra-fresh Sierra Nevada Hop Hunter IPAs. No need to hunt for those hops in this one. Tastes like sucking on a hop pellet. I think my IPA craving is satisfied now...for the next few months or so. Whew!

I thought it was more aromatic than bitter - and I did not care for it at all, despite the buzz/hype.

Yea, it was definitely more in the nose. Didn't want to introduce synesthesia into the equation...but you are exactly right. Can't say I'm a fan either.

Got a chance to try some Troeg's Sunshine Pils and I was impressed. Another example of PA being the German beer capital of the country.
On the IPA side of things, I've really been enjoying Green Flash Soul Style IPA. I don't really like what they've done with West Coast IPA and their Imperial Red, but I think Soul Style is terrific. Very little back end bitterness, but loads of hop character with no onion or weed notes. They also started carrying the Alpine line-up locally. They're very up and down. Sometimes beers like Duet and Nelson are good, other times it's as though they're hop tea.

Chris, another PA German style Pilsner worth seeking out is Neshaminy Creek Trauger Pils. It has a cracker-like Pilsner malt backbone that I find to be very appealing along with a nice balance of Noble hop flavor/aroma.

    Cheers!

Did a search for this and found your post about their QC issues. Sounds like the draft version is the only option if you want to be guaranteed good beer?

Michael (@TongoRad ) has posted that he has had good luck with his purchases of Trauger Pils in cans.

    Cheers!

Right, but you (and a number of others) were saying there are long(ish)-term issues with quality (floaties, slime, etc.) in many of the cans. It'd suck to shell out the money and get a bad product....

The report of floaties in Neshaminy Creek beers is for the County Line IPA. Based upon this thread I would not suggest folks purchase cans of Neshaminy Creek County Line IPA.

    Cheers!

Edit: What Jeremy Myers stated: "we don’t filter any of our beers, and the large amount of organic material in our dry hopped beers sometimes makes it over to the cans if guys in the cellar and canning line aren’t doing everything they should to take special care in avoiding that. it happens from time to time, and we’re doing our best to eliminate it. thank you for your attention to this matter."

    But you yourself said:

About 9 months ago I experienced a QC problem with a 6-pack of Trauger Pils. I exchanged a number of e-mails with the owner/headbrewer (Jeremy Myers). His response(s) were exactly as how DrRambis detailed of “Total non-apology”.

I personally have not purchased another can of Neshaminy Creek beer which is a shame since when they aren’t experiencing QC issues the beers are indeed very good. I just wish they were committed to brewing high quality beer 100% of the time.

It is popular on BA to bash breweries like AB but one thing that I admire about AB is that they are committed to producing their beers consistently 100% of the time. I cannot say this is the case for Neshaminy Creek.

    Cheers!

My cans of Trauger Pils did not have an issue with "floaties".

    Cheers!

What did it have an issue with (that led you to stop purchasing the cans)?

I still maintain New Glarus is the best brewery in America if that counts for anything...

I am also a fan of New Glarus beer. For Easter I split a big bottle of New Glarus Rasberry Tart with family; that beer was damn tasty!!

    Cheers to New Glarus!!
