Sure beats the $12 cans of anything at Coors field, though I haven't been there in a few years now ha.

This is pretty straightforward for me: (1) I'm going to go to Mariners games, (2) I'm going to drink beer DURING the games, and (3) see #1 and #2 --- I'm glad there's really good beer at Safeco.

Tickets cost x and beer at the stadium costs x. It's the price of doing the thing.

I personally love this year's line up! If you want cheap beer go to the Thunderbirds games for $2 Tuesdays. But I personally love getting a ton of friends together and day drinking in Seattle then we go to the cheap seats in the nose-bleed section. Still an affordable fun day only needing 2 beers inside the gate. Much more continent than college games where you are stuck sneaking in flasks.

Had Summer Ale on Cask from the stand on the 100 level yesterday, was very tasty.

Prefunking at Collin's, etc before an M's game is a must for me. If you're waiting to do all your drinking and eating until you get to the game.......you are doing a nice thing and supporting the Mariners franchise :grinning:

That, and a trip to Tat's and I am good to go ...until I get into the Stadium, that is.

Qwest field needs to take notice. Last year the selection was terrible, even compared to years past. Stop giving in to the big 2!

I wouldn't say 'terrible' given that i exclusively drink Bale Breaker, Fremont and Georgetown Lucille at the Clink, but I will concede there is much more shit (this includes Goose and 10 Barrel) than not. I'm speaking from a Sounders perspective, not a Seahawks perspective for whatever that is worth.

My only issue as a Sounders season ticket holder is that the beer selection on the 3rd level is not as good. I wish they would try a bit harder for those of us who could not land 2nd or 1st level tickets.

Very true - in fact, even on 100 level, the selection is vastly superior on the eastern side

Yeah, at a major sporting event it's a given the beers and food and whatever else will be more spendy than your local or your living room. That's why if it's an issue you need to hit a more price-friendly place before the game.

Funny story about what Safeco prices can drive you to.

About 4 yrs ago, my brother and I go to a game vs the Yankees just before the all-star break. Felix was pitching (and wound up going the whole game with only 2 hits), and it's another slow night for offense, so their lead is paper-thin. Shortly after the end of the 7th inning stretch, my brother comes back with two beers, hands me one. (We'd prefunk'd at Uber and Elysian Fields, so I'd been good for beer up to now). I ask what he brought. He tells me it's the King of Beers, in tribute to who was pitching (even this choice set him back $15 or so, and economics was why he chose them). Shortly after this, Jose Lopez (Yes, Jose freaking Lopez - I was literally blurting this aloud seconds after it happened) hit a grand slam. I then told my brother he'd now have to regularly drink Budweiser whenever the M's are in a close game, as it was good luck. He readily agreed - then realized what he had said, and started caveating: "Well, maybe if Felix is pitching... and it's a near no-hitter...and he's going the whole game...and their lead is only by a run or two."

Thanks, I had erased Jose fuckin' Lopez from my memory, and now you put him back in. Bastard.

As we were leaving the Safe, my brother (pretty much a west sider since about '98 or so) listed off the Grand Slam's he'd seen there: "Griffey, A-Rod... and Jose Fucking Lopez. One of these things is not like the other."

so the cask station had fremont summer and silver city porter on cask last night, with workhorse and field 41 on draught as well.

i don't know why, but i just find that to be so damn perfect.

I looooove getting beer from the Hit It Here Cafe bar because there's almost never a line. Hit it up last night for a Victory Prima Pilsner, which is a pretty perfect baseball game beer. They had Top Cutter, as well.
