Werent you the guy trying to peddle the homebrew for Cantillon, and throwing it up for auction on the trading forum?

The fact the one guy was trading what was/is essentially homebrew is the reason why, even though i have yet to try casa agria beers, I already see them in a negative light. the owners should have done a better job of protecting their brand as a lot of people feel the same way I do because of that individuals actions.

What does one thing have to do with another? And Rare Barrel was better than V015 side by side? Some specific Rare Barrel beer? All of them?

That being said, these guys claim they will be brewing in their facility sometime in May. I don't personally know anyone who has had their beer.

I completely agree with this sentiment, but just wanted to state for the record that it wasn't Juan who posted that ISO, nor was it the head brewer/founder. This obviously comes with bias since I'm an an acquaintance, but they're both stand up guys.

I think it was probably the guy who's not with them anymore.

Anyway, the hype is strong and there is a lot of marketing involved and not a lot of info out there to truly justify paying $300 for bottles from a "brewery(?)" that hardly anyone has tried before except for a few select people. I'm hoping they are legit and we have another good local brewery that does a good job making sour beers.

$300 for 10 bottles of homebrew? Scroll past.

I don't mind at all supporting local breweries. I just can't justify $300. I like the mug club prices to be around $100 for something I don't know. el Cat is $150. That's just me though.

Regardless, this is destined to become a popcorn worthy thread/topic as there are only two possible outcomes here... (1) They become a cinderella story out in Ventura that pumps out great sours or (2) They become legendary BA folklore about a clever cashgrab during the #newmoney craft beer bubble.

There is no middle ground here considering that they are charging Cantillon bottle prices. Even if the beers are "good", it'll still seem a swindle.

I'm not a fan of some of their marketing/promotional decisions, on top of that the whole homebrewz for whalez trading thing is disgusting, but either I am missing something or you guys are missing the fact, that the membership is not for the homebrews. I understand that some (or all) of you are just being sarcastic, making fun of them and the fact that they started in their garages/condos or whatever. But to be honest, that tells something about those who are making fun, not the subject here. We all know many great companies started in condos or garages. Just to be clear, I don't know a single person who owns/works for Casa Agria, so I am not defending anyone personally. I am just amazed by some of the statements made here.

I dont know who Juan661 is and I wasnt trying to imply it was him but I do know who it was based off of Instagram. Regardless of whether that person is still with them or not the damage has been done in my personal view, as im not trying to speak for anybody else.

I'm pretty sure we all know that the club is not for homebrew, we are just talking about the previous actions of an individual that was at one point associated with them.

@grze Not sure why you are lumping me in this. All I said is that is a lot of money to pay for a brewery where hardly anyone has tried their beers. Some legitimate questions have been asked, such as:
Where are they brewing these beers?
Do we have confidence that they will deliver what they promise?
Are these beers going to be of high quality and worthy of a $30 + tax per bottle cost? etc...

Simply because it fit the previous statements about condolambics etc - "brewery(?)"
The other part, I'm wondering all that myself. Back to the main subject, I made the decision to sign up. Mostly because of the fact that I definitely regretted not signing up for Rare Barrel Founders, so don't want that to happen again (and I had the same or similar doubts last time). Second factor is, I had one of their homebrews and in my personal opinion it had a huge potential to be really good when elevated to the brewery level.

Included intentionally  I tried to weave in 2014's winner "Entitlement" but lost focus.

Anyways, @grze I think this is all healthy discussion. We can't all be rah rah cheerleaders. People gave @Drift sh*t for inquiring about awards or what-not, but fundamentally, he's just curious about the pedigree of these guys.

If a homebrewer is seeking serious coin from me to join his bottle club, his name better be Ken Schmidt... or I'm gonna have some questions.

I think it's a legitimate question that was raised by someone earlier. Do they have a real brewery? I don't know. Doesn't look they have one yet and are those homebrews you tried going to translate into success once/if they finish their brewery and ramp up production?

@grze I would hate for you, me or anyone else to put money into this and it turns out they can't deliver. I really want them to be successful and I would lie if I didn't say I'm strongly considering signing up but I want some questions answered. If you read their membership announcement they mention that "A limited sampling of appetizers will be provided for our members." No mention of sampling their beers.

Yeah, they really should have thought about bringing bottles to their sign up event.

In the end, I still haven't decided because there are people I trust that told me good things. I bought into Libertine blind but that was $200, not $300. It was also from a brewery that had made a batch of beer on their equipment. We all see how Green Flash and Alpine have had trouble being consistent, I'd feel alot more comfortable if they took the time to work out the kinks before asking us to shell out $$

Rare Barrel had guys with previous experience brewing and barreling on a production level leading the way. These guys are homebrewers looking to make the jump, right?

Rare Barrel was playing craps, these guys seem more like playing roulette.
