KBS vs. BCBS: Which is easier to get?

BCBS is much better and much easier to find imo.

 

The better question might be, KBS or BCBCS…and KBS would still probably be the more difficult of the two.

 

If it's in maryland, it FLIES off the shelves. Any rare beer. I keep seeing these "oh just a pallet of x rare BA beer just sitting on the shelf at my local shop". Bourbon county literally lasted hours in my area. Either i'm looking in the wrong places or that's just the way it is around here. Every store i looked around black friday got maybe 2 or 3 cases

KBS hits a case or three, here and there all week long. Knowing who gets it and what day takes some knowledge, calling, patience and/or luck.

 

It's not just you. Some people just think that if it was easier for them then it was probably easy for everyone.

In the last couple of years, BCBS has been bottle limit 1 here and most stores only get one case. KBS they get a little more and this year the limit was 2. We get hosed most of the time either way in SW PA. Philly gets everything.

 

We usually don't get much of the better stuff by me either, the local distributors cater to the 21 crowd (Penn State students). I know Philly and Hershey/Lancaster was well supplied.

Finding KBS outside of MI seems like a comparable shitshow to finding BCBS (or maybe the variants) inside IL. Lines, low bottle limits, selling out immediately. So yeah, I guess if you live in MI KBS is way easier to get where if you live in Chicago getting BCBS is way harder. Seems pretty clear that the KBS hype is bigger, at least compared to allocations received by stores, in the rest of the country.

 

Yeah, Goose Island really sticks it to this area. I know one of our local guys was promised more BCBS than 2013 and variants for 2014. He got the same amount of BCBS and nothing extra.

 

Easily BCBS I got two four packs with no effort, while I was just lucky to reserve online 2 bottles of KBS, a lot of people I know locally missed out, or had to get to a store early for a single bottle.

 

If you compared KBS to Bourbon County Coffee then you would have an argument. I bought a 4 pack of KBS today and it was next to 4 packs of BCBS.

 

Zonk... was this what your store had around Black Friday or sometime after that? That is quite the mound of barrel aged goodness there... I would personally have a hard time not filling my trunk. :-)

FW on the other hand seems to send about 300 bottles of Parabola for the 8.5 billion to split up amongst themselves. Pic was from a Whole Foods btw, they seem to get 1st crack at the BCBS.

That was a day or 2 after Black Friday. probably took close to a week to run through it. They had a few barley wines and coffee but those didn't make it past delivery day.

 

In 2012 I could still find 4-packs of regular and bombers of Bourbon County Coffee on the shelf in January (2013).

In 2013 a few weeks after Black Friday I could walk into a store and buy 2-3 cases if I wanted.

In 2014 I had the chance to buy up to one case from a grocery store (I didn't).

For KBS I had to rush to the store in under 30 minutes to get 1 or 2 bottles in both 2014 and 2015. A tiny wine shop who didn't realize the demand had 4-packs with no limit in 2013 but as soon as word got out someone tried to buy the entire stock of the store.

 

300? Seems more like 30. Long Island is even worse.

 

At the risk of thread drift the FW finder shows 49 places withing 10 miles of downtown Manhattan that got it. Since I have yet to hear of anyone getting more than 6 I'm assuming 300 or less. On some level it would almost be better if none made it here so I din't pull my hair out over it. It's the one think I really try to chase down each year.

Not even close. Get 2 x 4 packs every year of BCBS and have yet to acquire 1 bottle of KBS

 

In the past 3 years combined, I've only found 5 bottles of KBS in stores. I've bought cases of BCBS.

 

BCBS wins the volume wars in my area, however there seemed to be ~8x as much KBS delivered compared to years previous. I was able to piece together a pretty solid pile of KBS over the last week.
