Rather than name Saisons already mentioned. I'll add one

Swamp head Saison Du Swamp. In my top three.

Hill Farmstead and Crooked Stave are the big players in the saison game. If you are drinking anything else you might be playing little league and not know it. Not that I'm knocking the others...I'd just need to find a reason to stop drinking what I've currently got.

Well...I think that, too....and then I think I might be suffering from confirmation bias. But yeah, I've had the same thought, about both beers you mention.

Hold on...what European Saison is above something like Hill Farmstead? Am I missing some things here?

    My top five, in order:
    1. Tank 7 (Honestly could be in the running for my favorite beer, period)
    2. Saison-Brett (And it comes out next week!!!)
    3. Arthur (Only beer I've ever had from HF, but it's so good that if I never had another HF, I'd be okay with it)
    4. Love Buzz (I'm shocked it took almost 50 posts to get a mention)
    5. Peche N' Brett (Need more of this in my life. Missed out this year.)
    Honorable mention (no order):

    Le Saisonnier
    Gillian
    Prairie Ale
    Halia
    Prairie Hop

You need to start drinking more saisons if you think those too are the only big players. I'll put logsdons saisons against either one of those two any day. Just saying. I might be wrong thought because obviously you are the king taster of saisons so I hope you approve of my opinion.

Saison is an American type of beer now. Newer ones brewed in Belgium (such as Urthel Saisonnière) are, no doubt, made with an eye on the American market. Perhaps it was America that made it into a 'style', I'm not sure.

    Saison is a crazy category.

Allagash, Boulevard Tank 7, Goose Island Sofie. I think these are the best of the big guys.

Penrose makes an awesome session saison at 4.3% with honey. I could drink that all day. Also locally apex predator is fantastic.

I had funkwerks saison last year and it impresses me as well.

Now when you start talking saisons with adjunts it becomes a whole new ball game.

I'm a saison snob... I would always compare everything to Fantome (and I still will). Fantome is the saison master. Even with their lack of consistency, it makes me appreciate their barnyard beauties more. With that being said, I've always loved me some Hennepin and Dupont. I have to say that Libertine Pub in Morro Bay KILLED IT with the Morro Rock Saison. So good! Everything that I want in a saison. I always either wish my saison is a) more funky or b) more tart. Libertine finds a balance of keeping this unique saison separate from everyone else and unique. If you haven't tried it yet, I highly recommend seeking it out.
