There was a liquor store on the west coast selling them for $100 a bottle last night. But they already sold out. Disgusting.

Finding it where? At Cantillon, no. I have seen it recently at a store in Leuven for around €30 though.

I've also seen Fou' on shelf for sale here in the Bay Area for $90. They claimed "You won't find this ANYWHERE." :astonished:

Today they had Vig. for sale, 3 max pp, also the 3 regulars in both sizes. Didn't see magnums but wasn't really looking if I'm honest.

We were there at the end of July, beginning of August last year and found several bottles on menus at various restaurants. We ended up having a bottle with dinner at Nuetnigenough.

In the end it's simple, you need a bit of luck of what they are selling at a certain time. Normally, the regular three (Gueuze, Rosé and Kriek) are always available plus 1 to 4-5 others.

Anyways, the selection they offer nowadays to drink on the premises is just amazing. Gueuze from 2006, all Zwanzes from 2008 to 2014, Carignan...

So my advice, don't bother to much in advance on what will be for sale, just hope for the best, but most certainly enjoy the afternoon with some fancy beers you won't find anywhere else!!

    ^^^ This.
Its always a surprise when I go to Cantillon. You never really know what they will have available and the quanitites. You may have an idea depending on the month and past offerings but it really is a crapshoot. Fou I think is normally available around September timeframe but I found it as late as early January (and then suddenly it sold out). Buy however much is allowed is my suggestion. I usually just buy whatever they have available and whatever seasonal beer they have available. And of course always enjoy the stuff they have that is "on premises" only. Hell even if you dont end up ddrinking an entire bottle of something like Carignan Im sure you will make someone very happy to share what you have.

If you want to grab some of their stuff that is not in season such as Fou or any of the others you could always go to one of the many bars or bottle shops that have it. Yes you spend a bit more but if your intention is to bring it back then its worth the extra money IMO

Maybe I should have said, my post was referring to take home. On site could drink FouFoune 2014, pineaua, cuvée St gilloise, carignan, Zwanze 12, 13, 14. Lamvinus, 2006 gueuze, 50•N 4•E and Mamouche. Nothing more than €18 a bottle. Scary prices in shops/bars/restaurants for this stuff. Drinking on site is great, really relaxed and for me was one of the best Brussels experiences. I found the city an overpriced noisy dirty touristy hole and Ghent offered most of the same beer cheaper in bars than in shops in Brussels.

Off topic but Ghent is beautiful and relaxed and Westvleteren, 3F, De Struise was cheaper in bars than in Brussels centre shops. Fantome I bought in Ghent shop for €8 was over €20 in Brussels shops. Apart from Moeder I would never go back there.

Anybody wanting to go to Belgium IMO should avoid Brussels like the plague!

I'd recommend also going to a Moeder Lambic Fontainis on the way there/back and trying the Cantillon cask they have. It's also a decent relaxed pub unlike Brussels city centre dumps.

I respectfully disagree with you on Brussels. Furthermore, coming on to this forum and calling it a hole might be a little bit insulting towards some of the locals who post here. I'm not saying you shouldn't be honest in your assessment of Brussels but perhaps you could phrase it a little better...

Avoid Brussels and you will avoid some of the very best beer experiences that can be had.

I must apologise for my post last night. Brussels is probably a lovely city, I just didn't enjoy it at all apart from Moeder and Cantillon. There is more than likely great pubs that weren't overly expensive, touristy and with an interesting selection, I just didn't find them.

I think my other point was I enjoy a more relaxed atmosphere to drink in.

I hope I have not offended anyone, I'd had a few too many beers last night...

These days I dont go to Brussels anymore for the touristy stuff. Im not there to gaze at Grand Place or visit the tourist shops. These days I go for the beer experience...because simply...its hard to beat the beer experience in Brussels. There are so many great places. Tourist issue aside Brussels is undoubtedly a beer mecca. If you want to be adventurous then make Brussels as your base and venture out from there to Ghent or out west. Yes its tourist but arent most major cities, yes its a bit dirty and noisy but what other major city wouldnt be considered the same. Its far far from being a hole

Not at all @Graeme24 if anybody came across too sharp it was me!

@rodzm14 my experience was I found nice rare stuff in he shops, but was sometimes double what I'd paid in Hopduvel and a lot of rarer beers in shops were more expensive than I was paying to sit in a pub drinking it in Ghent. Delirium has a huge list, but it's mostly readily available Belgians or just rubbish in relation to international beers.

Anyways, I've totally derailed this thread, sorry.
