who says you can only have two annuals in the BA series? BA tweak would be a great addition while i'm waiting for batch 2 of UJ...

ps, opened my first bottle of this last night... awesome brew. Avery is quickly becoming my favorite brewer through this series of beers.

Agreed. A few of us BA's went to an Avery beer dinner last night at Lucky Pie in Denver. They served Ellies Brown, IPA, Muscat, Recolte, and Uncle Jacobs for the dessert course. Oh it was heaven.

We've been chatting about a third annual barrel release, but we're not quite there yet. It's unlikely that we'd end up doing a BA version of Tweak... I did a single barrel of Tweak in an extra Maker's Mark barrel around the same time as Uncle Jacob's last year. I enjoyed it, but I think I still prefer the non-barrel aged beer better. Besides... we already have one Bourbon barrel-aged Imperial Stout, so we'd rather do something different for a third beer. Gotta keep yourself entertained

The biggest obstacle is actually space in the barrel aging cellar... it's a juggling act to keep all these projects going in a finite space.

And I'm glad to hear that the Lucky Pie dinner went well... though I'm curious to know if they were pairing pizzas with Recolte and Muscat, or if they do an expanded menu for something like a beer dinner. Those two beers are fun on their own, but with good food pairings they can be pretty incredible.

No not pizza, the Muscat was paired with a marscapone filled pasta with a butter cream sauce and carmelized corn. It was an amazing pairing. They Recolte was paired with a bone in pork chop with a cherry mustard. Besides the Muscat pairing my favorite was the 2nd course which was a warm carrot and avocado salad with cumin paired with the IPA. Overall the dinner was a hit.

That sounds great. I'm probably going to steal those recipes! I need to go "like" Lucky Pie so I can get in on the next one of these dinners!

The next one is August 15 with Oskar Blues providing the refreshments. Joe, the chef at Lucky Pie, said he wants to do a BBQ theme with checkered table clothes on the patio. I can't wait!

I was just at Mr B's earlier today and they said either this week or next.

I do believe I have heard that before...

Andy, my favorite barrel-aged release party of all time was Black Tot, where you guys had different barrel expressions and the base on its own to taste. Is that something you guys will do again, or was that something that only made sense the one time?

My fault, Andy. I wasn't clear. I was just trying to come up with a reason/excuse/format for you all to release Tweak. Please forgive the confusion I caused.

Let me quit beating around the bush and be CRYSTAL clear.

RELEASE TWEAK. *Waves hand in front of your face again.

Uh, is this beer actually hitting stores or not? I was trying to grab one for a trade partner.

From our good ol' National Sales Dude: "Oud Floris hits shelves in CO Monday of next week. It'll take all week to hit every store but we should get it all out in about 5 days."

He usually knows what he's talking about. Usually.

@joshclauss - We don't really have any plans for the Different Barrel Treatment, but we didn't exactly plan out the Black Tot release that far in advance either. It's frequently more time consuming (comparatively) to get those single barrels. In the case of the Black Tot variations, those Bourbon and rye barrels happened to fall in our laps at the right time. If at some point I could get a variety of different rum barrels for Rumpkin I would love to, but that's more difficult than it would seem when you're trying to juggle 8-10 different projects at a time.

@gklover1 - No confusion at all and no apologies necessary. For better or worse, I'm weak-minded. So Jedi mind tricks might work. Depends on how many pints of Hog Heaven I've had at the time.

And back to barrel tasting day...

Thanks for all the explanations Andy!

If you guys haven't had the pleasure of meeting him in person, try if you can! He is a great guy, funny, and a great speaker. One of the best topic speakers our home brew club has had this year.

Still I have to ask though, has it been brought to the attention of those higher up the Avery Food Chain, how well Tweak is received, and how many people are clamoring for it to be bottled??
