I'd say that you are doing more than just passing on the information. Your speaking of another business in comparison and saying because of your small sample size of one vist to each brewery that nobody gives a shit about service. There are so many variables to any customer service experience that you have no way of knowing about in these individual situations. If you really wanted to just "pass on the info" I'm pretty sure it's super easy to get in touch with the Modern Times guy. He's always on here.

Right, so he can read it here too. I'm relating an experience I had at a beer establishment on a public forum about beer. I realize that is frowned upon here but I'll keep it up as long as it is allowed.

Or you could have just messaged jacob and let him know instead of attempting to compare to another place where you had a good experience yet others have not.

Just forget about the Churchill's comparison then.

I had a bad customer service experience at MT and Council this weekend. Is that comment copacetic on this forum? I just want to understand what is permissible when discussing our favorite breweries.

If it's a brewery I like, message them in private about issues.
    If it's a brewery I don't like, bash away!

That's pretty much how it works.

I'm picking up what you're putting down.

For the record, I love Modern Times. I spend most of my "shelf beer" money on their products.

Their tasting room manager (or whatever cool title Jacob has for the position) is on here, too.

One thing I've noticed at the Fermentorium is that often you'll have brewery employees popping up behind the bar. I'm not saying this is what happened to dcbullet, but it might be. Council - that's sort of odd, but there might be an explanation. According to a Facebook message, Liz and Curtis were away for the weekend at some beer event. I wonder if some people take it easier when not being watched. LOL

Interesting as I was at both Council and Modern Times on Saturday as well- plus dcbullet and I both have guitars as our monikers so we should have talked!! Was my first time at Council, it was just OK; we then went to Helms, which was not enjoyable; then Modern Times which was packed at around 3-4; we were quickly served a delicious ProtoCosmos; then went to Coronado. I'm not sure why Coronado doesn't get much love here, I've had many good and a few great experiences there.

So what is the story behind Trueland? Hops, malts, etc.? Reminded me of some sort of old school beer I had a long time ago, but a tastier version of it naturally.

Yeah it was great. When I was drinking it all I could think about was how much I wished it were available at Petco Park. Perfect baseball season beer.

Trueland is a draft-only pale ale we brewed for Ryan Sweeney's various spots in L.A.; naturally we kept some for the tasting rooms, too. Hops are Waimea & Cascade. It's designed to be a super drinkable summerish beer. We'll probably rebrew it, and we may play around with the recipe a bit depending on hop availability and the like.

    Cheers & thanks,

If you want to take food into the tasting room, In N Out and El Cotixan are both easily walkable (a couple blocks each) and solid choices.

Sit down, Slaters 50/50 isn't far, nor is Stone Liberty Station, although I wouldn't recommend eating there. Taste of the Himalayas is an awesome Indian/Nepalese hole in the wall in a strip mall not far away. Not a beer spot, but excellent food. If you want really, really mediocre BBQ slathered in lots of sauce, Phil's is an option that people will inevitably recommend.

If you are looking for a restaurant all sitdown and nice I cannot help you out.

BUT, if you want something quick, In n Out is a couple blocks away, same with Del Taco, Subway, and Panda Express

    Edit: sniped by Xul.

Seconded. My coworkers took me here when I first started and it was real good. They have some good lunch specials.

It is super drinkable! Get this into Petco Park by any means necessary, even if you have to smuggle it in using the Montejo truck in right-center field.

Not sure about walking distance, but Dos Brasas is a short drive/Uber ride from Lomaland, and the burritos are incredible There's also Lucha Libre, which is delicious, but wreaks havoc on my GI system.
