Last years weather sucked, we left super early because of the cold.

What really sucked was it being so cold yet getting sunburn, and oh course getting food poisoning from those under cooked brats that you had to wait 20 min for, that really made the ride home fun haha.

Can't wait for this year! Has anyone started a trading spreadsheet?

People still use that food poisoning excuse for drinking too much :stuck_out_tongue:( I kid) sounds like a pretty adventurous day for you lol. thankfully I didn't eat any food at the festival, we went to the car and made sandwiches.

Yeah, last year was my first year, and I almost didn't want to go this year as a result. I got there under-prepared (wasn't looking for a lot of bottle shares, didn't bring much to share, etc.), and the cold weather didn't make me want to explore too much.

I've been to a bunch of beer fests since then, and I've gotten more of a sense of what I like now, so I'm ready to come back to DLD with a vengeance *cue epic music*. Not being in winter-like weather will be icing on the cake.

Also guys, seriously, White Castle is the way to go. DLD is the only day of the year when you're allowed to eat it guilt-free; look it up, it's true.

Yeah we probably won't buy any food inside, just cook outside on a grill. One less line to stand in. Although I am definitely going to do at least one guest tap line, didn't do any last year.

I did so much research and reading before going last year me and my buddy did pretty good. I didn't want to look like a DLD noob and be that guy that pukes on himself and passes out next to the portapotties (again).

White castle was the very first stop we made before checking into our hotel, especially when my buddy never had it before.

I loved the guest taps last year, I drank a bunch of them. Got pretty lucky while standing in a tap line they tapped BVDL and got a pour of that. My buddy bought 2, I thought about it but only bought 1. I wanted to make sure someone else got a pout, looking back now I wish I bought 5 pours!

Yeah, I didn't research that much back then (I was not aware just how much there is to know about these things!), but I definitely do now. Although the best research is always in-person!

Dang so it was pretty good? Cool, I'll hope to get that lucky.

Funny you mention how hardcore you were about preparation last year. Last year was our first year as well and we did decent enough I suppose. 2 backpack coolers and got in line around 7:30. Met some nice people, @dahray02
and his crew gave us a bottle of KBS which we had never had before, great guy!

This year we've gone totally crazy on the preparedness. We have a huge list of stuff we're bringing, setting up a bottle share on the south side entrance starting early, cooking breakfast and lunch, etc. Lol, what good beer will do to people!

This weekend-ish I'll post in here kind of an official thing about what we're doing and where to find us for anyone that wants to join our bottle share and tailgate. And yeah, you're more than welcome! Making breakfast burritos, plates of eggs/sausage/goetta all morning. Figure it'll help keep the bellies full for our day of debauchery, lol.

They should really limit it to 1 pour per person, especially during the late morning/ early afternoon rush.

Yeah, it's pretty surprising that they allow you to order 2 pours at a time. Even if it's not 1 pour per person, letting people order to pours of a supply-constrained beer at once is a little strange.

Thanks for mentioning this, I got in just now also. Nice to be within walking distance, and of course great bottle shares the night before.

Does anyone recall where about on this board it's listed what they have had on guest draft the last few years, think I recall seeing a list a while back?
