Adjunct is a perfectly good brewing word. Unfortunately it is woefully misused. It's simply unmalted grain which uses malt enzymes to extract the sugars. An adjunct may or may not add to the flavour and character of the beer.

Review a couple hundred or so beers and just about every word you use is overused.

Quaffable. If someone were to say that out loud to me, our conversation is over.

Good god how did I forget this one, and how did this thread get to 4 pages before it was mentioned? This is a winning answer.

I'd say its misuse has reached 95% around these parts.

I can't stand when the word "big" is used in reviews. Big caramel, big toffee, big citrus, etc. Maybe it's just me

I believe it's referring to a beer having weed-like flavor or smell

Descriptive terminology within a given field be it food, wine, beer or distilled products will always be limited to certain base terms in order to standardize ratings. Maybe, a reference guide or beer dictionary would be a nice tool to have so that we would have a better idea of what terms like "dank" mean. And, if we think it's a ridiculous term or definition, we create a thread here on BA to better define and refine the descriptive terminology handbook.

    Just a thought.

This. I say 'hoppy' in reviews, but I hate it when beers have the word "hop" of some form in them.

Hopslam. Hopburst. Hopexplosion. Hopnificant. Hop Overload. Hop

We get it . . . you put hops in your beers.

haha seriously. I've seen people even drink an +8% beer and describe it as sessionable and crushable.

    And then there is this:

Every time I see it in the store I just want to break the bottle in a fit of rage. Then, I somehow get myself back in control. Phew.

Rochester just got bottles, so there might be hope for some in NYC. Thought it was super close to Heady. Not quite a Heady clone, but seemed like maybe a Heady fraternal twin, at least

I personally think "Cheers!" is kind of overused, especially the passive aggressive "Cheers!," when somebody posts something clearly antagonistic, but then ends it with "Cheers!"

Not completely sure, but just my observation. Cheers seems to be more of a European thing, well really all over the world in their own language. Americans don't really use it as much on daily basis, but there are a lot who use it to be cool and seem niche. When I've traveled or hung out with Europeans though most of them have said Cheers before the first drink, every. single. time. It gets kind of tiresome haha
