My Bruery trustee was sending me a case of my RS beers, including Rum Black Tuesday and Mocha Wednesday :slight_frown:, and FedEx has now declared a total loss on the package that never even got out of California.

They have sent me a claim form indicating that I am completely boned and will never receive these beers. How should I complete the claim form considering the contents? They ask for receipts/documentation of value so I'm pretty confident I am going to get nothing out of them. Has anyone had a similar experience or able to provide any insight?

I've never had the guts to fill out a form when they just damaged a shipment and returned it to me (since that seems trickier, although I know plenty of people do it) but did fill one out when they damaged and threw out an entire box.

Don't worry about the receipts/documentation, just fill out everything you can, claim it's something non-alcohol (I just said glassware) and you should be fine. I didn't fill it out online since it incorrectly claimed I wasn't the shipper, did it by hand, and still had no issues getting my check. I just claimed the $100 value which I indicated when I shipped (which luckily was close to the shelf price). Given the price of Bruery beers hopefully you claimed more when you shipped.

They don't expect you to have receipts if it's a gift.

So, I paid for the shipping label, but obviously my trustee was the shipper. Who should complete the form? Also, I didn't insure the package as I didn't expect I could recoup anything without receipts if it was over $100 (it was way over...).

Another interesting note is that there are no shipping expenses on my credit card, about a week after the last update to the tracking of the package my pending charge from FedEx disappeared from my credit card online statement. This was before I even called them to ask why the tracking hadn't been updated. It is as if they already knew they lost it before I even called to report it missing. Maybe FedEx just stole my beer.

Or maybe your trustee didn't drop it off.

The package tracking made it from Bloomington, CA to Anaheim and the last tracking update said that it left Anaheim. He definitely dropped it off.

Call them and have them put a trace on the package. Tell them it's collectible bottles.

Yeah this is the result of the trace, I had them trace it last week and have since called back twice to get updates on the trace. My call this morning is the one where they told me they are giving up on it.

I would assume you would fill out the form since you want the money to go to you. I received my check for the $100 plus the shipping charges which unlike you didn't disappear from my CC. It blows to only get the $100+shipping back but it's better than nothing.

Yeah, it seems like they completely don't care at all. They have missed every deadline they said they would call me back by, in fact they never once actually called me back. Not sure how it could completely disappear and they don't even have any suspect boxes that might be mine. I mean they didn't even ask me what was in the box. Isn't that weird?

I think an employee jacked my beer.

I've been dealing with a similar situation regarding a box I sent my CCB trustee. Have been thinking about posting the full story once I finally get my money back on the claim

    Update if anyone is interested:

All charges on my credit card from FedEx were gone, until today. I have a new pending charge on my card so I called FedEx and they tell me that 2 packages are headed to my address from Tennessee. Last known whereabouts of my original package was California. It sounds like there my have been some sort of breakage and they had to repack and send.

That is (kind of) a relief. Hopefully the damage is not too extreme.

Haha nevermind, FedEx was just screwing with me. Saw today that the charge posted with the old tracking number. They just decided to charge me again for the lost package, there is no new repacked boxes coming my way. Whoever I spoke to on Monday was either incompetent or lying.

A box I mailed to Cali a few weeks ago vanished with the last tracking info having it at the Bloomington, CA fedex center. There's another thread on here about Bloomington losing a box. As if losing my box wasn't enough, fedex employees seemed to give no shits about it. Their customer service has been awful, never found the box, don't return phone calls, never seem to know anything about anything. Really a piss poor handling of the situation in my eyes. Luckily my trade partner was awesome and patient and I got to keep my end of the trade.

Having a similar situation going on right now. I sent it out Friday from Chicago, and the box stopped being tracked Monday night. I was given several answers about where it might be. They are currently looking for it at the FedEx chicago station, and think the tag may have fallen off. They want to know what's in it because they'll have to open boxes up. I told them the old "jarred salsas and marinades" lie. Should I let them know what it is in hopes I can atleast get it sent back to me?

If don't tell them, you'll never get it back. If you do tell them you may or may not get it back.

They didn't even ask me what was in mine. Just said it was gone and they'd never find it.
