Should be to my liking. My favorite is still Celebrator, and I find that to one of the "lighter" doppelbocks around.

Label in picture, just below Winter Bock, says Doppelbock so the Brewery seems to think it’s a Doppelbock as well. :-)

This sounds like a description I usually give to most micro-brewed German-style beers. A lack of real refined malt character.

Can't say that I've ever had too many Maibocks I'd consider "watered down," but I don't tend to drink a lot of high octane beer all the time, so my palate isn't over-worked.

As to "almost Belgian in style," when I first tried Dubbel some years ago I was quick to call it "German in style." All perspective I guess.

I just had an Ayinger Maibock and it was fabulous. I took a chance at a brewpub tonight and this was the right choice. So, Maibock problem solved! Thanks guys.

Far from a hop head! I love malt-forward beers, ain't that ironic?

I find Ayinger solves many problems.

    Except bottling dates.

Not based on your new-found appreciation. Um -- you found Ayinger at a brewpub? Guest tap?

I was at Philadelphia's 30th Street train station yesterday and to my great joy there was Ayinger Maibock on tap at Bridgewater's Pub

Ayinger Maibock is a very tasty Maibock!!

    Cheers!

Probably my least favorite of the Bock iterations. I still like some. Ft. Collins used to make a good one. So many German beers I've tried since moving back ( lived in CO & OK ) seem old or stale from the bottle. I really liked Rock Bottom's version in CO Springs years ago.
