Dark Lord Day (DLD) 2015

Welp, 18th Street thing IS a ticketed event and online sales came and went. A little heads up would have been nice.

 

One thing a lot of people aren't aware of: BA Dark Lords are regularly on the bottle lists of Mikkeller Bar and Mikkeller & Friends in Copenagen. I personally saw 2013 BVDL bottles there when I visited last April. Given Danes' love of (or obsession with?) akvavit these bottles are likely intended for Mikkel's bars, or the FFF/Mikkeller joint venture brew pub, War Pigs.

Over the years my group's gotten to purchase 3 different bottles of BA Dark Lord. All 3 have been consumed, no regrets. Money can always be replaced, but you can't replace the experience.

 

I've never had any of the BA Dark Lords, so I'd hold onto mine for anything under...I dunno, probably $500. Whenever I end up trying them (hopefully next Saturday), I would imagine after that I'd be a little more open to letting them go for cheaper.

 

Parking help - We have been coming for 3 years but this will be the first time trying to get a parking spot, so we can keep stuff with the car(grill for breakfast & beers etc). We are thinking of a 4:30am arrival so I don't think there will be issues but thought I'd ask. Also does anyone know if you can leave your car until the AM or at least until late(11pmish) that night

several people mentioned they left their cars overnight and had no issues. I'm not sure if anything has changed.

 

My group has "won" 5 (1 Moscatel, 4 BVDL). We drank 2, traded one, opening one next Friday night. Will decide then what to do with the last one. Hopefully acquire more next Saturday.

 

Three Floyds provides no parking, anywhere you park will be on some other private property, or in the city owned park across the street. So it will depend on where you park and what that particular business owner feels like doing that day.

 

My thoughts exactly. You could say me and my friends gave up a lot of money opening all of these last year, but had we sold all of these I would have spent the money on something much less awesome.

 

Do you keep the empty bottles or throw them out (recycle where possible)?

I save some of the really awesome bottles, like these and have them on top of the kitchen cabinets but recycle 99%

 

They aren't allowed to sell cases at the brewery this year. You'll have to pick them up at near by stores.

Well I guess I'm the asshole lol. I wonder why the city won't let them do it.

 

How often do Fridays occur? I feel like they are pretty frequent.
