For the people asking if this is the same beer, have you guys been hiding under a rock for the last month?!?!?!

People just don't take the time to read responses in threads before they post.

I'm excited to try this, I always loved Ruination so I hope V2.0 is better. Hell, if it isn't they are making a huge mistake. I doubt they would screw it up.

Not the case at all. I'm sure sales did have a lot to do with it, but cutting costs (read: sacrificing quality) to maximize profits is not how Stone works.

I still enjoy ruination a lot, so i am kind of on the edge of my seat hoping they deliver. The countdown begins! I can't wait to here the first reviews...

Disclaimer: Its been over a year since I had the original Ruination, and I'm not an IPA specialist guy who can discern all the subtle nuances of evey hop variety.

I just drank a Ruination 2.0, and I thought it was very good, but not all that different than I remember the original Ruination being. Its definitely worth trying though.

Really psyched to try the 2.0. I'm a big fan of Simcoe and Citra hops. Anyone know when it'll hit the east coast (MA)?

IPAs have definitely evolved. All the ground-floor players in the IPA boom face a major strategic decision: a) keep brewing the same classic recipe that made you a player and risk becoming less appealing to contemporary palates; b) update your recipe under the same name; or c) issue a new beer under a new name that competes with the original and let the market select. Each approach has risks and drawbacks.

Stone's choice of approach "b" is in-keeping with who they are: aggressive, quality-focused, not held back by fear. What approaches are the likes of Founders, Green Flash, Bell's, Southern Tier, Smuttynose, and Lagunitas taking, and do they fit so well with each brewery's character?

Looks like it hit shelves earlier than expected, I just picked up a 6 pack. Wish they put it in the cooler at bevmo though!

With so many great new IPA's, its hard going back to old favorites, especially being in California, too much to choose from.

6 packs! Looks like they realized the move to 4 packs for Ruination was no good, how much?

I'm glad my mom gave me a gift card! They didnt have a price listed on shelves, it was almost $20 when I checked out. They didnt even have the 6er in the system, one bottle was $3.19 x 6 = $19.14.

True, one of the other big changes they're doing is going back to 6pks, but keeping the price point as low as they can. People complained they were asking $17.99 so they went to 4pks, then people complained they weren't getting a full six beers to a pack. Can't please everyone. They're also doing with the new Arrogant Bastard, the Oaked version is gone and is being replaced with the Bourbon Barrel version we saw in the Bastard Box, but going to 6pks too.
