Hey, we looked pretty good the last 2 periods. Maybe with Ehrhoff and Pouliot coming back we may make a series of it. Kunitz needs to ship right off though.

So far I haven't heard the old refrain that "nobody's doing anything good" this year. Does this mean Pittsburgh BAs are actually happy about what's going on this week?

With the hundreds of events going on, there definitely seems something for everyone. I may have to double up a few days.

Yeah, we're definitely decimated on defense (Lovejoy on the top defensive pairing is just ) but the offense has looked abysmal for a while. And with these guys, no lead is safe, lol.

So what else is everyone checking out besides the heavy hitters?

I may hit up the Iron Brewer Challenge at Independent Brewing Company tonight and The Freshman Cask at Brew Gentlemen. You?

I have always found numerous great events to attend every year. Do people here really not like PCBW? I know it's not on par with what some other cities get but there are always some cool things being done. I likely won't go to anything until Monday when Fatheads taps that collaboration beer they did with Founders

I am more busy than I want to be. I have weddings to go to tomorrow and next Saturday, so have to finangle some things around.

Definitely going to the Clown Shoes brunch on Sunday morning since I have to be in that area anyway. Likely to go to both Voodoo events next Friday and Saturday at Ho1K beers and Homestead respectively.

In terms of smaller stuff, may try to go to the kickoff lunch tomorrow at Whole Foods Wexford (12-2), maybe Crush the Pins at Caliente on Sunday, GF/Alpine at the Library on Monday, Big Beer night at Sharp Edge or BCBS tapping at Calient on Wed, then probably on of the brunch / send off events next Sunday

Definitely going to the ba event at houghs on thursday and most likely to the library afterwards for some more cbs(cant get enough of that stuff), both voodoo ba events, and would like to get to pipers wednesday morning. i may try to make it to the wexford alehouse for the thirsty dog night and possibly to whole foods on sunday for the brunch, been wanting to try that syrup. Theres probably a few others i may or may not go to. Could probably find something everyday if i really wanted to.

Also just came from shubrew. Picked up a bottle of the ba barleywine and tried the pcbw collab which was pretty decent.

I definitely got the full @Stigs at Caliente tonight. Waited 15 minutes (Yes, it was a legit 15 minutes. I was watching the time on my phone.) paid $7, and got this... It wasn't even that busy, which I found odd.

Faux pint glass and 4 oz of head. You've got about 9-10oz of solid beer in there. Consider me jealous.

My "Place" review here sums up my experience at the collaboration takeover last year.

Just stopped into Stoke's randomly and they had a couple Spring House beers on tap (Simcoe DIPA and PB&J Gruesome) for $4 and free bacon. Best start to PCBW ever.

Free bacon would be the best start to damn near anything.

That's funny, when I was there on thu, I'd forgotton about the underfilled glasses meme, but independently noticed that every beer brought to our table was so overfilled the waitress was either spilling or practically having an aneurysm trying to avoid spilling. Perhaps the bartender had heard the complaints...?

Side note: the Abyss was not great. I havent had much fresh Abyss in my day and this is the first time I've ever had it on tap, but the best descriptor I could come up with was eating coffee grounds out of an ashtray, which is something I very rarely want to do. Much less for $10 for an 8oz pour or whatever that tiny snifter is. Not blaming caliente for me not liking a beer, just thought I'd mention it.

No. He was just giving me an F.U. and being an ass. If it was the big guy with the manly beard, I doubt it would have happened.

I got a chance to stop by Cafe Chocolade for some of their cup cakes. I go there around 11 and he was pretty much sold out after making around 12 dozen. I was able to try the milk stout cupcake and it was fantastic. I also got a siracha cupcake but havent tried that one yet. Either way i was happy to support a small business who stepped up their game in honor of beer week. I will be sure to get their earlier next one for victory and or yards. Another tbing to mention he has a large selection of gluten free treats which is percect for my wife. Check them out.
