From what I have been told, Another shit show by 18th street brewery! I know our tasting group is by-passing the brewery for the way they handled the tickets sales for the barrel massacre event or which should be properly known as the riding on the coat tails of another brewery's success event. Sad thing is we were looking forward to trying some of there beers but now, could care less about supporting a great brewery with crappy marketing and event planning skills.

I really don't think there should be so much butthurt over this event. I frequently make the hour drive from home to enjoy this gem of a brewery. Growing up Gary was known for poverty and violence...at least by those who didn't live there. I'm happy that there are some people busting ass to make it known for better things. Can the beer be a little pricey? I guess at times. Was this event handled as well as it could be? Probably not. In my humble opinion, there is some world class beer coming out of that tiny little brewery every day and with a small staff to boot. Cut them a break and remember to support local business...isn't that a big part of what BA is all about? I missed out on tickets for the event, but hopefully next time I won't. There are plenty of real problems in the world to be passionate about. Relax and drink some beer guys!

I personally liked the way they handled ticket sales (little advance notice, online & IP, 1 pp, non-transferable, etc). Did I get a ticket? No and I'm not upset in any way. There are 1,001 events on the horizon. It's obvious but only people who miss out on tickets scream and shout it seems. Well I've never seen anyone who purchased a ticket complain about a process anyway.

Yeah, I missed out on tickets too. However, that suddenly does not make 18th Street or their beer suck. In much the same way that I can not attend all beer events, everybody can not attend a given event that wants too.

never said there beer sucked, just the opposite. However, they did not announce that they were going to have ticket sales, they had an area on the website promoting the BA tapping and beer and never mentioned ticket sales....so a lot of people where planning on supporting them and stopping by and sampling but now.........then all of a sudden it is a ticketed event....I could careless about supporting a any business with those type of business practices And I know others are feeling the same way......Flossmoor station will now reap the benefits

My buddy and I are coming from the west coast for DLD and were excited to check out 18th St. for this event, but the whole process left a lot to be desired and changed my views of the way this brewery conducts it's operation. I am not overly concerned with the prices as it is expected with the craft beer boom, but what disappointed me most was the way they handled the online ticket sales. Less than 12hr notice, no mention of when online ticket sales went live? I woke up in the morning and found out they already went on sale @ 7am and are now sold out. The only comment from the brewery was a sarcastic "I am glad someone can read the details," when someone answered a question that was posted on FB. I guess they must be doing so well that they don't care about customer service and can be complete jackasses. Luckily, I live close to SARA, Russian River, The Rare Barrel, Cellarmaker, etc. where customer service seems to still be a priority despite their growth and popularity.

18th Street did not formally announce details until early Friday (well very late Thursday). If you would have been reading the thread there has been speculation it would be a ticketed event since the beginning of April. It *had* to be a ticketed event. Not sure if you have ever visited 18th Street but it does not have the capacity to handle thousands of people like DLD. I've complained a bit for the timing of the event but to think it would never be a ticketed event is a bit naive. Also they are opening to the public at 7pm so the public is still welcome to attend then.

Lol.....well that makes things so much better....hey I screwed up a lot of people's plans riding coat tails of 3 floyds... But you can come later and spend some money on what is left......now that is the type of marketing that will soar beer sales.....

No, the only show of shit is the people complaining they didn't get tickets. Not singling anyone out but from the posts in this thread it is fairly evident.

Maybe people shouldn't have made plans around an event before the details for it were released. There was no way this wasn't going to require tickets. I think it was pretty nice that they did any online sales at all

Yeah, unfortunately, we have plans for a bottle share.

I don't know if you were referring to my post, but our plans are not dependent on whether or not we made it to this event. It would have just been in addition to DLD festivites, but now that we didn't get tickets we will spend the day somewhere else and come back for a bottle share at night. I had a feeling it was going to be a ticketed event awhile back based off a post, but that was still all speculation up until a week before the event. I get that they were trying to mean well and not turn it into a shit show, but a little more notification would have been appreciated prior to a ticketed event. Oh well! Enjoy the event!

Your traveling from Cali....you don't owe them an explanation......they owe you...your the a potential customer that could spread the word on thier beer to the west coast. Great brewery, bad marketing that will cost them....just simple business practices..enough said,,,

I was not referring to any specific posts. I didn't get tickets either. Which is disappointing but no big deal. Plenty of other great beer to drink that night.

Which is my point.....there is so many other good beers to drink........don't shut the rest of the world off from your beer with an advertised event for some BA beers and the all of a sudden turned the event into a ticket event...state from the get go..........ticket event details to follow....that simple

Actually, I got a ticket and I still "complained" - though I prefer to see it as constructive feedback. My opinion is that it's less important how a brewery handles their first event, and much more important how they handle the second. If they take feedback constructively and improve - all good. But even as someone that got a ticket I have to say that $25 for the right to buy beer and bottles over a meager 2 hours seems a bit steep. Maybe there's some secret added value that will change my mind, a la scratch off on the card. But, hey, young brewery though so hopefully it's a learning experience.
