Here is a description of this years 16th anniversary beer. I'm stoked!
This year, our brewing team was inspired by some exotic-ish additions of lemony persuasion. Yes, it’s a Double IPA (can you really say you’re surprised/), but as we strive to do with all our Stone Anniversary Ales of the let’s-take-this-IPA-in-a-new-direction variety, we’ve brewed up a Stone-worthy divergence from tradition. The amount of rye malt we used isn’t quite enough to warrant the apellation “Rye IPA,” but it still adds hints of spiciness that contrast deliciously with the tropical fruit flavors and aromas of the Amarillo and Calypso hops. Add a few European specialty malts, some lemon verbena, and three more hop varieties to the mix, and you have a highly complex brew melding both bitter and fruity hop notes with rich toasted malt character punctuated by nuances of spicy rye and subtle lemon.

as long as they hit the amarillo and calypso as hard as in most of their specialty IPAs, i'm on board.

I was just about to submit a post to see if anyone had heard of anything for 16th, you must have read my mind!
I know they brew pilot batches of anniversary beers in the early summer months. Anyone tried any?

I enjoyed Ruination 10 and I'm glad I got a chance to try it, but ultimately, the difference between it and regular Ruination was so small that I wouldn't bother with the higher price a second time. I've got a feeling this is going to wind up the same way. I'm excited to try a bottle, and I expect it'll be good, but it doesn't sound like something that will really stand out from the pack, especially compared to some of their previous anny releases. Then again, I could have said that about last year's and it wound up being the best one since their 12th.

Well since I haven't tried Ruination 10 yet, perhaps I'll end up trying the new IPA and 10 together.

:fckthat: I don't want subtle nuances of ingredients. It's an anniversary beer. Stone knows how to go full throttle. That's practically their motto. "We go hard on the throttle"

I'm just hoping the Amarillo comes through big time. Amarillo is my second favorite hop so I'm thinking this should be awesome.

I want extreme tropical fruit aromas and flavors. Make it happen Stone.

this confused me a bit. i thought there was a MAJOR difference taste. (for the better imo) good or bad is subjective but you cant up the abv to 10.6% and double the hops used in dry hopping and not taste a difference... secondly...it was the same price as regular ruination bombers (unless your store marked it up?)

but staying on topic..im def excited for this one. i am always excited for new stone though

^^^^ What he said. Ruination 10 is nothing like the regular AND it's the same price.

I am looking forward to this. I love a rye ipa that is done well and stone knows how to brew a good ipa so i'm sure this will not disappoint!

I like most Stone beers and they do hoppy stuff well, but it's hard to get excited about anything they do since their beers are about as variable as the opinions of the FOX News pundits. I know they can do non-hoppy beers well, but they seem to have no interest in doing so.

yeah, but Stone's subtle is typically that of a sledgehammer

I can't be the only person thoroughly burned out on IPAs and DIPAs...

I wouldn't say burned out, but definitely becoming over saturated. I love the styles, but I have so many, and keep wanting more but I have other beers that need to be drank. As soon as I get one, it jumps up to the front of my "to drink" list

at this point, there are so many quality ones, many of which taste pretty damn similar, that there's no need to chase down the latest one that people are going apeshit over. what a great time for beer....
