I hope you're right but I think this is something that works and that's why they do it....place on Long Island was once muling heady for 40 a 4 pack once and they sold out a couple pallets in a day...this was a couple years ago of course but still

Plus, as long as people buy rare bottles for 300 dollars each on * then I'd say something like this will always work for these assholes that do it

Yeah but the thing that truly sucks is that there are at a minimum 7 people who went to OH and didn't get to buy cans because they were gone.

Could this be HS or AGE? Or both? It does say can release. So maybe HS or AGE. Either one is just fine.

"This Sunday 4/26. 10am doors. Brewery exclusive, limited release of two of our all time favorite beers in 16oz can format. $16, 4 pack, $90 case. One case max per person of each beer style. That means one person can buy a case of each beer. Over 200 cases of each style will be available. Sunday hours will be extended. 10am to 8pm.
These IPA styles are extremely perishable so drink them ASAP and definitely don't buy them from anywhere except the brewery. Enjoy! We have two more single hop, limited releases coming up soon so stay tuned"

Between the hit to my wallet, room in my fridge taken up by beer, and a trip to VT the following weekend, logically I should skip this but I suffer from Fear Of Missing Out

Can everyone please not freak out? It's a Sunday (honestly I don't even know how they can sell beer before 12pm to be honest). 200 cases of each is pretty sizable. No need to turn this into a shitshow.

But one of the first people there better inform Other Half that scumbags like Bushwick's Fine Fares are re-selling. Somehow have to prevent that shit from happening again.

Pretty sure they know about it already from their facebook post
"Just to be clear... We do not condone or endorse the resale of any of our beer that is released in cans. We sell direct from the brewery so our supporters can enjoy the freshest beer possible at a fair price. When cans are released to retailers, we will announce it and will inform you where to find it. Any mark up on our beer is negotiated between Other Half and the retailer to come up with a fair price. Do not overpay for our beer. We will always make more. Thank you all for your support!
Stay tuned for a brewery exclusive can release next Sunday....."

I'm not aware of the legalities of selling beer in NY. But it seems illegal what they are doing. Can a store purchase beer directly from a brewery and sell it retail without state approval?

I'm not positive but they may be able to sell beer for retail before 12pm on a Sunday as long as there is no alcohol consumption on site (i.e. they will not be selling beer on tap until 12pm but they will allow you to purchase beer to-go before). That's really the only explanation I can come up with.

There are plenty of stores near me that open up at 10 or 11am on a Sunday for retail beer sales that do not offer on-site consumption and I have never seen a problem with that.

I think you meant to reply to my comment re: how Other Half could sell beer before 12pm (your explanation makes sense, too)

dazed is referring to the possible illegality of reselling non-distributed beer, i.e. the dbags at Bushwick's Fine Fares

I don't think it's us freaking out, honestly. The hype train is not going to stop. Eventually, I'm either going to have to commit myself to being one of the rare sources of OH's canned beers, or I'll resign myself to getting it on draft (with regularity) at any number of fine local establishments (being a satisfied Brooklynite).

But look at the last three releases:
-First GD release: Friday noon release, cans available until Saturday afternoon.
-Second GD release: Saturday 10 AM release, cans available until 9 PM Saturday.
-Third GD release: Saturday 10 AM release, cans available until 6 PM (or so).

The demand is growing. I first went to OH the weekend they opened, but as I did, I said to myself, "This will probably be the busiest this brewery gets." The reality has been that it was probably the LEAST busy weekend they've seen since opening, or at least one of them. And while other NYC breweries get some well-deserved hype, they aren't getting totally overblown like Other Half.

So, no, I don't think it's absurd to think that one would need to get there by, say, 2 PM on Sunday to ensure they got some Citra and/or Nelson.

That said, the Nelson is freaking off the chain.
