Is this a beer that would be recommended to be drank fresh or aged? Just got one and wondering how strong the brett character is in the beer.

they recommend drinking it fresh but i would recommend picking up more than one bottle if you have the chance. i had two over the weekend and brought home a third to throw in the cellar. the second canvas series bottle (la bonte) is out today.

So my friends and I tried this back in November on draft @ the funkatorium. At least it was on the board listed as such. Does anyone know if that was a base, what was added (maybe the brett or the plums or both). We all saw this and thought.. yea we've had this before. I know Walt posted something about how it was ready to be released now.. Maybe bottle conditioning was a factor.

    Any ideas?

I've definitely had La Bonte at the pub before, but no idea if this is the same beer as that or not. Pretty sure WW doesn't bottle condition any of their beers though. Or if they did, they just started doing so.

I couldn't agree more. First time I went in there, the owner introduced himself and was so welcoming. Awesome growler list. I make sure I stop in every time I'm in Winston.

Anyone tried their bottle of La Bonte yet? Looking for insight before I decide to pick a bottle up. I skipped the brett burglar because I wasn't a fan of the base IPA to begin with.

I thought Brett Burglar was pretty solid. Not nearly as good as the best batch of Lusus, but certainly better than regular Hop Burglar (which I'm not really a fan of either). I thought the blood orange worked a lot better with the brett character than it does in the regular ipa. Assuming La Bonte is priced around $8 or so like the first one in the series was, I'll definitely pick one up.

Had it last night, and really enjoyed it. Liked it better than the Brett Burglar. Plum came through nicely without being overwhelming.

Anyone know if these are still available at Good Bottle?

If they recommend drinking it fresh, Brett Burglar sucks. Hardly any Brett character, also hardly any hop character and practically no blood orange flavor. Basically tasted like an average Belgian Pale Ale. First fail in a bottle for WW IMO.

I've had several saisons that I thought were way worse than Brett Burglar (I'm looking at you Tributary and Appalachia).
