Any idea if I can enter DLD prior to my guest showing up, and then walk back through the entrance with my guest when they arrive at a later time? My guest won't be able to show up until early afternoon, and I'm planning on being there earlier in the morning.

Yes, they will stamp and/or wristband you so you can re-enter freely.

My first 3 years at DLD, I showed up at 6:00 a.m. and always had to leave by like 3:00. Last year, I came at 4:00 and stayed until close. Both experiences were awesome and have their up and down sides. However, I really enjoyed not having to wait in any lines after like 6:00 last year. It was freezing cold but I just walked up and bought whatever I wanted (that wasn't sold out).

I have a group E ticket and I'm coming around 4:00 again this year. You lose the awesomeness of sharing in line before the gates open but I'm more than happy to pay $5.00 for guest drafts of things I haven't tried before or super rare stuff.

I also bring less beer than I did when I came early because the early morning line is more conducive to sharing with strangers. I'm just bringing a few Marz Community Brewing & The Sour Note sours to clear the palate.

I totally agree that there are pros and cons to showing up early/late.

Showed up at 6am my first two years, bottled shared, had a great time, but also waited in lines all damn day.

Showed up at 4pm the last two years due to my lady's work schedule, people were still sharing, lines were flying, bands were awesome (in my opinion), but the food options were scarce.

Just show up whenever with an open mind and you'll have a great time.

Does anyone have experience taking the shuttle from Reggie's? I'm looking to get there bright and early at 7 to get a spot on their first bus out at 9. Should I plan on getting there a little earlier or will that work? I'm looking forward to the pregame breakfast buffet. It'll be a solid start to the day.

Based on a friend's experience: cross your fingers that Reggie's bus doesn't break down on the highway like it has on multiple occasions in the past.

Good to know. It seems like most other options are booked for the early shuttles, so Reggie's will have to do.

Our group has tickets for B and C, so if we are a little late, it's not the end of the world. We'll get there in time for our allotment still and I assume there'll still be some great times to be had even if we're a little late.

I stated that wrong - do you think it will be a problem that my guest isn't able to first enter with me? I didn't know if the guest must receive their wristband and stamp at the same time as me, or can I just flash my ID again at a later time for them to receive their wristband and stamp?

they won't let you in to the festival unless you are with the person who's name is printed on the pass. you can come early and hang outside the festival, where lots of the bottle sharing occurs as well, but won't be able to enter the grounds

I believe @barowe is not the guest, but the primary pass holder. If so, I don't think there would be any problem with his guest showing up later to enter for the first time.

you are 100% correct. as long as you are the primary pass holder.

Don't remember exact volumes, but my guess was 10-12 ounces for most stuff and 5-6 ounces for rare stuff. They were served in different sized plastic cups.

That bus is cool, but its one trip away from just dying completely and falling to pieces in the middle of the road. It looks like it belongs in Mad Max

Okay, cool, that was one of my reasons for coming later this year; just doing Gen'l Ad I have no real reason to get there early (no way I was making it by 6-7am for the real party anyway), and I want to have the option to get some good pours without huge lines. I'm not making the same mistake as last year though, and actually dressing warmly this year!

Last year we were in line by 7:30 and I didn't dress warm enough. 8 hours later of that wind cutting through you like a knife and we were done. Hoodie and jeans for me this year.

I live in sunny california. I'm not designed for temps in the 40s and rain. I don't even own a coat suitable for this...

...and for the record, I froze my ass off last year in a hoodie and shorts. :stuck_out_tongue:

Look for the guy with the cheap plastic rain boots and the bright blue Pliny the Younger poncho! I knew buying that thing would come in handy! :stuck_out_tongue:

I have an orbital space suit on loan from NASA. Figure that should do the trick.
