I got some more information on the bags/gates topic.

Backpacks are fine as long as they can fit in a milk crate. They may actually be using milk crates to determine size.

North and South gates are similar to last year. You can line up with the group As at the north gate and be fine. Group As are all highly recommended to start at the north gate, however. It does seem as if the south gate will be faster for non-group As.

Okay, so now all I have to do is find a milk crate to measure my backpack against!

Here is a satellite overlay map I created, to give you an idea of how the festival layout correlates with the land.

Oh jesus. What does fit in a milk crate even mean? Like can it be taller than the milk crate?

Like others have said, the written size is probably in place so that they can point to *something* when they refuse particular bags.

Just like the "no commons" rule in the FAQ for bringing beer to share is there to week out people bringing in cases of PBR or whatever.

Yeah, I was mostly being facetious; I would imagine they won't adhere too strictly to that size-limit, either.

"I'm sorry sir, your backpack only fits 3/4 of the way into the crate; either drink some of the beer outside, or you can't come in."

This is good to know. Thanks for posting that. Nobody in my group last year had group A and we all lined up at the South Gate so nothing really affected us. Sounds like if you're in Group A you can get in quicker and easier at the North gate then...

Better stock up on these to protect your tasting glasses from the elements.

My friend got us into VIP last year because he knows one of the executives for the brewery. It wasn't anything special. We got free beer with the exception of 2010 DL that was $5 or $10, I don't remember. We also got free food. The VIP area had its own porta pottys which were clean, but there were only 3 of them so the line got pretty long. It got pretty crowded in there and with the exception of getting free beer, there really wasn't anything extra to do. I'm not sure if they are going to change it this year, but I'm not getting VIP passes and I'm not bummed about it at all.

Ah I see. Was just wondering because I'd never seen VIP passes on sale before.

For an event that should be defined as 'metal', this thread is full of nancies and worry warts.

Stop sweating all the small shit and just go there, have fun and be responsible. Fuck the weather, fuck your tickets, fuck the line logistics, fuck zombie dust, and fuck yo couch.

Also would suggest going and buying one of those $10 battery pack chargers for your phone.

Yeah, but Big Freedia is pretty transgressive on more than just a sexuality level. The music is not my thing, but everything about her/him is nearly the biggest middle finger FFF could give to Indiana politics.

so on the subject of ZD. if I wanted a full case, that could only happen at the kiosk if they choose to release more tomorrow. If a liquor store has it, they will only sell it in six packs limit one per, right?

Depends on the liquor store. Most in the city get their shipments on Tuesday and Wednesday and are gone before the end of the workday
